Why this fits your Lyriq+

The Cadillac Lyriq has a Type 2 inlet and a three-phase 11kW onboard charger. The 22kW cable carries its full 11kW on three-phase chargers. A 7.4kW cable would cap it. On a single-phase home wallbox both cables charge at the same 7.4kW.

How long does it take?

Charging
the Cadillac Lyriq.

The Cadillac Lyriq is a first-generation large electric SUV, arriving in the UK from 2025 with right-hand drive. It carries a 102kWh gross battery and charges through a Type 2 inlet for AC and a CCS port for rapid DC. For day-to-day home and public AC charging, you supply a Type 2 to Type 2 cable. Rapid DC charging, which can reach up to 190kW, uses the charger unit's own tethered cable.

UK-specification Lyriq models are confirmed at 11kW AC on three phases, though some European market data has referenced higher figures. The 11kW rating is what you should plan around when choosing a cable. It is a substantial battery, so overnight home charging comfortably handles everyday mileage without needing to touch a rapid charger for routine use.

The Lyriq's 102kWh battery takes well over ten hours to fill on a 7.4kW home wallbox, so setting an overnight schedule is worthwhile. Rapid (DC) times are for a 10 to 80% charge, the way manufacturers quote them. Real-world charging varies with temperature, battery state and the charger itself.

7.4 kW or 22 kW?

Which cable does
the Lyriq need?

The Lyriq's onboard AC charger tops out at 11kW on three phases. Standard UK domestic supplies are single-phase, which caps home charging at 7.4kW no matter how the cable is rated. For most Lyriq owners, a 7.4kW Type 2 cable is all that is needed for home charging and covers the vast majority of public AC destinations too.

If you have access to a three-phase supply at home or you plan to use 22kW public AC charge points, a 22kW three-phase cable lets the Lyriq draw its full 11kW at those locations. On a standard single-phase setup the two cable ratings perform identically, so spending more on a 22kW cable only makes sense if your circumstances genuinely call for it. Given the 102kWh battery, a 5m cable suits most situations, but a 7m lead adds flexibility on larger driveways.

What does it cost to charge?

A full charge of the 102kWh battery costs roughly £7.50 to £8 on an off-peak EV tariff of around 7.5p per kWh, rising to around £28 at a standard rate of around 27p per kWh. Public rapid charging at premium DC sites can reach 70p to 80p per kWh, which adds up quickly on a battery of this size. Overnight home charging on a dedicated tariff is the most cost-effective way to run the Lyriq day to day. Check current rates, as tariffs change.

Good
questions.

Contact us
What length charging cable should I get?+

5m suits most home and public charge points. Choose 7.5m or 10m if the charge point is far from your car's charging port or you park on the far side of a bay.

What charging cable does the Cadillac Lyriq need?+

A Type 2 to Type 2 cable for home wallboxes and public AC charge points. For rapid DC charging, the Lyriq uses a CCS port and the charger's own tethered cable, so you do not need to supply one. A 5m or 7m Type 2 cable is practical for most home and public AC scenarios.

Can the Cadillac Lyriq charge at 22kW?+

No. The UK-specification Lyriq is rated at 11kW AC on three phases. A 22kW cable will not increase the charging speed beyond what the car's onboard charger allows. On a standard single-phase home supply the maximum is 7.4kW regardless of cable rating.

How long does the Cadillac Lyriq take to charge at home?+

On a 7.4kW single-phase home wallbox, filling the 102kWh battery from empty takes around fourteen hours, comfortably done overnight. On a three-phase 11kW supply it takes just under ten hours. DC rapid charging at up to 190kW can recover significant range far more quickly, using the rapid charger's own tethered cable.

How fast does the Cadillac Lyriq rapid charge?+

The Lyriq supports DC rapid charging at up to 190kW via its CCS port. This uses the charger's own tethered cable, not one you purchase separately. Actual peak speed depends on the charger available, battery temperature, and state of charge, and is typically lower than the headline figure in everyday use.
