Cadillac Optiq
Charging cable
Charges about 50% faster on 22 kW public posts than a 7.4 kW cable.
Why this fits your Optiq+−
The Cadillac Optiq has a Type 2 inlet and a three-phase 11kW onboard charger. The 22kW cable carries its full 11kW on three-phase chargers. A 7.4kW cable would cap it. On a single-phase home wallbox both cables charge at the same 7.4kW.

How long does it take?
Charging
the Cadillac Optiq.
The Cadillac Optiq is a first-generation compact electric SUV, expected to reach the UK from 2026 following the Lyriq's launch. It uses an 85kWh gross battery and connects to AC charge points via a Type 2 inlet and to DC rapid chargers via a CCS port. The cable you provide for home or public AC charging is a Type 2 to Type 2 lead. DC rapid charging at up to 150kW is handled by the charger's own tethered cable.
Cadillac specifies 11kW AC on three phases for the Optiq's onboard charger, based on the European launch data available. That makes it a reasonable overnight charger at home, where the 85kWh battery takes around eleven to twelve hours on a 7.4kW single-phase wallbox.
Specs drawn from EU launch data; confirm UK-specific AC rate with your dealer at order. Rapid (DC) times are for a 10 to 80% charge, the way manufacturers quote them. Real-world charging varies with temperature, battery state and the charger itself.
7.4 kW or 22 kW?
Which cable does
the Optiq need?
The Optiq's onboard AC charger is rated at 11kW on three phases. In a typical UK home with a single-phase supply, charging is capped at 7.4kW regardless of what the cable is rated for, so a 7.4kW Type 2 lead gives you everything a standard home wallbox can deliver. There is no speed advantage to choosing a 22kW cable on a single-phase connection.
A 22kW-rated three-phase cable is worth considering only if you have or plan to install a three-phase home supply, or if you use 22kW public AC charge points regularly. At those locations the Optiq can pull its full 11kW. Otherwise, save the budget and stick with a quality 7.4kW cable. A 5m length is versatile enough for the majority of driveways and car park installations.
What does it cost to charge?
Charging the 85kWh battery from empty costs roughly £6 to £6.50 on an off-peak tariff of around 7.5p per kWh, and around £23 at a standard rate of around 27p per kWh. As with most large-battery BEVs, setting an overnight charge schedule makes the biggest difference to running costs. Public DC rapid charging is considerably more expensive per kWh. Always check current tariffs before budgeting.

Cadillac Optiq FAQs
Good
questions.
Still not sure? Our team will confirm the right cable for your vehicle.
Contact usWhat length charging cable should I get?+−
5m suits most home and public charge points. Choose 7.5m or 10m if the charge point is far from your car's charging port or you park on the far side of a bay.
What charging cable does the Cadillac Optiq need?+−
A Type 2 to Type 2 cable for home wallboxes and public AC charge points. For DC rapid charging, the Optiq uses a CCS port and the charger's tethered cable. A 5m Type 2 to Type 2 lead covers most day-to-day charging needs.
Can the Cadillac Optiq charge at 22kW?+−
No. The Optiq's onboard AC charger is rated at 11kW three-phase. Using a 22kW cable makes no difference to charge speed; the car's charger is the limiting factor. On a single-phase home supply the maximum is 7.4kW.
How long does the Cadillac Optiq take to charge at home?+−
On a typical 7.4kW single-phase home wallbox, the 85kWh battery takes around eleven to twelve hours from empty, fitting well within an overnight window. On an 11kW three-phase supply, the same charge completes in around eight hours. DC rapid charging at up to 150kW is much faster and uses the rapid charger's own cable.
Does the Cadillac Optiq support DC rapid charging?+−
Yes. The Optiq has a CCS port supporting DC rapid charging at up to 150kW. This uses the rapid charger's own tethered cable rather than one you buy separately. The AC Type 2 inlet is separate and is what you use with a portable cable at home or at public AC points.
