Why this fits your Tourneo Connect PHEV+

The Ford Tourneo Connect PHEV has a Type 2 inlet and a three-phase 11kW onboard charger. The 22kW cable carries its full 11kW on three-phase chargers. A 7.4kW cable would cap it. On a single-phase home wallbox both cables charge at the same 7.4kW.

How long does it take?

Charging
the Ford Tourneo Connect PHEV.

The Ford Tourneo Connect PHEV is a third-generation compact MPV sold in the UK from 2024. It is mechanically related to the Volkswagen Caddy eHybrid, sharing its 1.5 EcoBoost PHEV powertrain. The standard Tourneo Connect carries up to five passengers, while the Grand Tourneo Connect stretches to seven seats; both versions share the same charging specification. The 25.7kWh battery gives a meaningful electric-only range for family errands and school runs before the petrol engine joins in. It charges through a Type 2 inlet for AC and a CCS port for DC rapid charging.

For home and public AC charging, you use a Type 2 to Type 2 lead. The Tourneo Connect PHEV has an onboard AC charger rated at 11kW on three phases, which is unusually capable for a PHEV. DC rapid charging at up to 50kW uses the charger's own tethered cable rather than one you purchase.

7.4 kW or 22 kW?

Which cable does
the Tourneo Connect PHEV need?

The Tourneo Connect PHEV's 11kW onboard AC charger is one of the more capable units fitted to a PHEV. On a standard single-phase UK home supply, however, charging is limited to 7.4kW regardless of what cable you plug in. A 7.4kW Type 2 cable will give you the maximum speed a typical home wallbox can provide, and fills the 25.7kWh battery in around 3.5 hours at that rate.

A 22kW three-phase cable is worth considering if your home has a three-phase supply or you plan to use 22kW public AC charging points regularly, where the car will draw the full 11kW. At a single-phase charge point, the 22kW cable performs identically to a 7.4kW one. The car also supports 50kW DC rapid charging via CCS for faster top-ups away from home, and that uses the charger's own cable rather than one you own.

What does it cost to charge?

Filling the 25.7kWh battery from empty costs roughly £1.93 on an off-peak EV tariff of around 7.5p per kWh, or around £6.94 at a standard rate of around 27p per kWh. Keeping the battery topped up at home covers most daily family mileage on electric power alone, which is where a PHEV earns its keep. Check current tariffs, as rates change.

Contact us
Can the Ford Tourneo Connect PHEV charge at 22kW?+

Yes, the Ford Tourneo Connect PHEV has a three-phase onboard charger, so with a 22kW cable and a three-phase supply it can charge at up to 11kW.

What length charging cable should I get?+

5m suits most home and public charge points. Choose 7.5m or 10m if the charge point is far from your car's charging port or you park on the far side of a bay.

What charging cable does the Ford Tourneo Connect PHEV need?+

A Type 2 to Type 2 cable for home and public AC charging. The onboard charger supports up to 11kW on three phases, though on a standard single-phase UK home it charges at 7.4kW. DC rapid charging at up to 50kW is also possible, but that uses the charge point's own tethered CCS cable.

Can the Ford Tourneo Connect PHEV rapid charge on DC?+

Yes. The Tourneo Connect PHEV supports up to 50kW DC rapid charging via a CCS port. This is available at public rapid chargers and uses the charger's own tethered cable, not one you supply. For most owners, home AC charging at 7.4kW handles daily needs; DC is useful for longer trips or faster mid-day top-ups.

How long does the Ford Tourneo Connect PHEV take to charge?+

On a 7.4kW home wallbox, the 25.7kWh battery fills in around 3.5 hours from empty, comfortably within a working day or evening session. On a three-phase 11kW supply, the charge time drops to around 2.5 hours. DC rapid charging at 50kW tops up the battery in well under an hour.

What length cable do I need for the Ford Tourneo Connect PHEV?+

A 5m Type 2 cable works for most home setups. The Tourneo Connect is a compact MPV rather than a large van, so a 5m lead typically reaches without difficulty. If your wallbox is set back or the car parks at an angle to the charge point, a 7m lead adds useful extra reach.
