Charging guide

Charging
your Fuso.

Fuso's electric vehicle range in the UK consists of a single model: the eCanter, a light commercial truck with an 83kWh battery designed for urban delivery and distribution work. The eCanter uses a Type 2 inlet for AC charging, so it takes a Type 2 to Type 2 cable for depot and public AC charging.

The eCanter has a 22kW three-phase onboard AC charger, which is a higher AC charging rate than most passenger cars support. Whether a 22kW cable is the right choice depends on the supply available at your depot or charge point. Read the cable guidance below or pick your model to see exact charge times.

What charging cable does a Fuso need?

The Fuso eCanter charges through a Type 2 inlet, so you need a Type 2 to Type 2 cable. Commercial vehicles often park further from their charge points than passenger cars, so a 7m or 10m cable is worth considering alongside the standard 5m length, depending on the layout of your charging area.

The eCanter has a 22kW three-phase onboard charger. A 22kW rated cable will fully unlock that speed, but only if connected to a three-phase AC supply capable of delivering it. Most domestic and single-phase commercial supplies are capped at 7.4kW, which is the maximum those supplies can deliver regardless of cable rating. If your depot has a three-phase 22kW AC charger, a 22kW cable is the right choice and will charge the 83kWh battery considerably faster.

If your depot runs on a single-phase supply, a 7.4kW cable delivers the full speed available from that connection and there is no benefit in paying for a 22kW cable. Check with your site electrician or charge point installer to confirm whether your supply is single-phase or three-phase before choosing a cable rating for the eCanter.

What type of charging cable does the Fuso eCanter use?+

The Fuso eCanter uses a Type 2 inlet for AC charging, so it takes a Type 2 to Type 2 cable. No Fuso eCanter requires a Type 1 cable.

What is the AC charging speed of the Fuso eCanter?+

The eCanter has a 22kW three-phase onboard charger. On a three-phase 22kW supply it charges at the full 22kW. On a single-phase supply, which is the most common commercial and domestic connection in the UK, charging is capped at 7.4kW regardless of the cable.

Do I need a 22kW cable for the Fuso eCanter?+

Only if your depot or charge point has a three-phase AC supply capable of delivering 22kW. On a single-phase supply the eCanter charges at 7.4kW and a standard 7.4kW cable is all you need. Check your supply before buying to avoid paying for capacity you cannot use.

Can the Fuso eCanter DC rapid charge?+

Yes. The eCanter supports DC rapid charging at up to 104kW through a separate CCS2 inlet, which is the fast-charge connection used at rapid charge points. The Type 2 cable is for AC charging at depots and slower public AC points only.

What length cable do I need for the Fuso eCanter?+

Commercial vehicles often sit further from the charge point than a passenger car on a driveway, so 7m or 10m is worth considering. A 5m cable may be sufficient in a compact depot bay, but measure the distance from the vehicle inlet to the charge point before deciding on a length.
