Kia EV2
Charging cable
Charges about 50% faster on 22 kW public posts than a 7.4 kW cable.
Why this fits your EV2+−
The Kia EV2 has a Type 2 inlet and a three-phase 11kW onboard charger. The 22kW cable carries its full 11kW on three-phase chargers. A 7.4kW cable would cap it. On a single-phase home wallbox both cables charge at the same 7.4kW.
Which Kia EV2 versions does it fit?+
This cable fits every Kia EV2, because they all share the same Type 2 charging inlet. That includes:
- Kia EV2 Air
- Kia EV2 GT Line
- Kia EV2 GT Line S
- Kia EV2 First Edition
Whichever EV2 trim you drive, it is the same cable, so you can order with confidence.

How long does it take?
Charging
the Kia EV2.
The Kia EV2 is a first-generation fully electric compact SUV from Kia, arriving in the UK from 2026. It is available with two battery sizes: a smaller 42.2kWh pack and a larger 61kWh pack, both on a 400V platform. Charging uses a Type 2 inlet for AC and a CCS port for DC, and when you plug in at home or at a public AC point you use a Type 2 to Type 2 cable.
The EV2's onboard AC charger runs at 11kW on three phases. At a standard single-phase UK home wallbox that figure is limited to 7.4kW, which is still a practical overnight charge rate for either battery. Public DC rapid charging reaches up to 150kW on the larger pack, cutting the 10 to 80 per cent window to around 30 minutes, though that uses the charger's own tethered cable rather than one you carry.
Select your battery size above. The 42.2kWh pack charges noticeably quicker than the 61kWh on every method. Rapid (DC) times are for a 10 to 80% charge, the way manufacturers quote them. Real-world charging varies with temperature, battery state and the charger itself.
7.4 kW or 22 kW?
Which cable does
the EV2 need?
The EV2 supports 11kW AC charging, which exceeds the 7.4kW output of a standard single-phase UK home supply. For most owners at home, a 7.4kW Type 2 to Type 2 cable delivers the maximum speed the home supply allows and is the sensible, cost-effective pick. The larger 61kWh battery fills overnight at 7.4kW without difficulty.
A 22kW three-phase cable becomes worthwhile if you have access to a three-phase home supply or regularly use 22kW public AC points. In those settings the EV2 will charge at its full 11kW, cutting charge time by a third compared with 7.4kW. On a single-phase home setup, the upgrade brings no speed benefit at all and simply adds cost.
What does it cost to charge?
Charging the 61kWh battery from empty on an off-peak tariff of around 7.5p per kWh costs roughly £4.60. The smaller 42.2kWh pack costs around £3.20 for the same session. At a standard rate of around 27p per kWh those figures rise to around £16.50 and £11.40 respectively. An overnight EV tariff is the most cost-effective way to run the EV2 day to day. Public rapid charging is significantly more expensive per kWh. Check current tariff rates.

Kia EV2 FAQs
Good
questions.
Still not sure? Our team will confirm the right cable for your vehicle.
Contact usCan the Kia EV2 charge at 22kW?+−
Yes, the Kia EV2 has a three-phase onboard charger, so with a 22kW cable and a three-phase supply it can charge at up to 11kW.
What length charging cable should I get?+−
5m suits most home and public charge points. Choose 7.5m or 10m if the charge point is far from your car's charging port or you park on the far side of a bay.
What charging cable does the Kia EV2 need?+−
A Type 2 to Type 2 cable for home wallboxes and public AC charging. The EV2's onboard charger supports up to 11kW on three phases. For most UK owners on a single-phase supply a 7.4kW cable is the practical choice. A 22kW three-phase cable only helps if you have a three-phase supply or regularly use 22kW public points.
Can the Kia EV2 charge at 11kW at home?+−
Only on a three-phase supply. Most UK homes are single-phase, capping home AC charging at 7.4kW. The EV2 can reach its full 11kW at three-phase public AC points or a three-phase home installation, but for the majority of UK driveways 7.4kW is the realistic home charging speed.
How long does the Kia EV2 take to charge at home?+−
On a 7.4kW home wallbox, the 61kWh battery takes around 8.5 to 9 hours from empty. The 42.2kWh pack charges in around 6 hours. Both batteries are well suited to overnight charging, leaving the car ready each morning. A standard 3-pin socket is far slower and best used only as a backup.
What length cable do I need for the Kia EV2?+−
A 5m cable is the standard choice for most driveways. If your wallbox is positioned away from your usual parking spot, or there is a long run from the socket to the inlet, a 7m or 10m cable gives you the extra reach. Measure first to avoid either a cable that falls short or one you need to coil unnecessarily.
