Audi Q4 e-tron
Charging cable
Charges about 50% faster on 22 kW public posts than a 7.4 kW cable.
Why this fits your Q4 e-tron+−
The Audi Q4 e-tron has a Type 2 inlet and a three-phase 11kW onboard charger. The 22kW cable carries its full 11kW on three-phase chargers. A 7.4kW cable would cap it. On a single-phase home wallbox both cables charge at the same 7.4kW.
Which Audi Q4 e-tron versions does it fit?+
This cable fits every Audi Q4 e-tron, because they all share the same Type 2 charging inlet. That includes:
- Audi Q4 e-tron 35
- Audi Q4 e-tron Sport
- Audi Q4 e-tron S Line
- Audi Q4 e-tron Quattro
- Audi Q4 e-tron Sport 35
- Audi Q4 e-tron Sport 40
Whichever Q4 e-tron trim you drive, it is the same cable, so you can order with confidence.

How long does it take?
Charging
the Audi Q4 e-tron.
The Audi Q4 e-tron is a fully electric compact SUV that arrived in the UK in 2021, sitting below the larger e-tron and Q8 e-tron in Audi's electric lineup. It is built on the same MEB platform as the Volkswagen ID.4 and Skoda Enyaq, and shares their fundamental approach to charging. Updated versions carry a battery of around 77kWh usable, with DC rapid charging at up to 175kW. Trims run from the entry 35 through Sport, S Line and quattro variants.
For AC charging at home or at public points, the Q4 e-tron uses a Type 2 inlet, and the cable you carry is a Type 2 to Type 2 lead. The onboard AC charger is rated at 11kW on three phases. DC rapid charging at up to 175kW goes through the CCS port using the charger's own tethered cable, not one you supply yourself.
Estimates based on battery size and charge power. Rapid (DC) times are for a 10 to 80% charge, the way manufacturers quote them. Real-world charging varies with temperature, battery state and the charger itself.
7.4 kW or 22 kW?
Which cable does
the Q4 e-tron need?
The Q4 e-tron's 11kW onboard AC charger sounds generous, but for most UK owners the relevant ceiling is the home supply. Standard domestic connections are single-phase and cap out at 7.4kW, meaning a 7.4kW Type 2 lead already delivers everything your wallbox can offer. That is the right cable choice for the majority of Q4 e-tron drivers.
Stepping up to a three-phase-rated cable makes sense only if you have a three-phase domestic supply or you frequently charge at 22kW public AC stations, both fairly uncommon in UK residential settings. Where three-phase power is available, the Q4 e-tron will pull up to 11kW. On a standard single-phase supply the extra cable rating changes nothing about how fast you charge, so the cheaper 7.4kW lead is the better buy for most.
What does it cost to charge?
Charging the 77kWh battery from empty costs roughly £6 on an off-peak EV tariff at around 7.5p per kWh, or around £21 at a standard daytime rate of around 27p per kWh. Setting up overnight charging on a dedicated EV tariff is the most cost-effective way to run the Q4 e-tron day to day. Public rapid charging can reach 45p to 80p per kWh depending on the network, so it is best reserved for journeys where home charging is not practical. Always check current tariff rates.

Audi Q4 e-tron FAQs
Good
questions.
Still not sure? Our team will confirm the right cable for your vehicle.
Contact usWhat charging cable does the Audi Q4 e-tron need?+−
The Audi Q4 e-tron has a Type 2 inlet, so it needs a Type 2 to Type 2 cable for UK home and public charging. It charges on up to three-phase AC at up to 11kW.
What length charging cable should I get?+−
5m suits most home and public charge points. Choose 7.5m or 10m if the charge point is far from your car's charging port or you park on the far side of a bay.
What cable does the Audi Q4 e-tron need?+−
A Type 2 to Type 2 cable for home wallboxes and public AC chargers. The Q4 e-tron has a Type 2 AC inlet and a CCS port for rapid DC, which uses the station's tethered cable. For most owners on a single-phase home supply, a 7.4kW Type 2 lead is the right choice. Choose a three-phase-rated cable only if your supply or regular public chargers support three-phase power.
Can the Audi Q4 e-tron charge at 22kW?+−
No. The onboard AC charger is limited to 11kW on three phases, so the Q4 e-tron cannot use 22kW even if the charger provides it. On a single-phase UK home supply the maximum drops to 7.4kW. Three-phase public AC stations will deliver 11kW. A 22kW cable adds no speed over a standard 7.4kW lead on a single-phase supply.
How long does an Audi Q4 e-tron take to charge at home?+−
On a 7.4kW home wallbox, charging the 77kWh battery from empty takes around 10 to 11 hours, which fits neatly overnight. On a three-phase 11kW supply that comes down to roughly 7 hours. DC rapid charging at up to 175kW is far faster for long trips but uses the network charger's own cable. A three-pin granny cable at 2.3kW takes around 33 hours and is best kept as a backup.
What length cable do I need for an Audi Q4 e-tron?+−
A 5m lead works on most home driveways and is easy to coil and carry. If your wallbox is mounted some distance from your parking spot, or you regularly pull up at an angle that puts the inlet further from the socket, a 7m cable takes out any awkward stretch. Ten-metre cables give maximum flexibility at varied locations but are noticeably heavier to handle.
