Audi Q5 e-hybrid
Charging cable
Charges about 50% faster on 22 kW public posts than a 7.4 kW cable.
Why this fits your Q5 e-hybrid+−
The Audi Q5 e-hybrid has a Type 2 inlet and a three-phase 11kW onboard charger. The 22kW cable carries its full 11kW on three-phase chargers. A 7.4kW cable would cap it. On a single-phase home wallbox both cables charge at the same 7.4kW.
Which Audi Q5 e-hybrid versions does it fit?+
This cable fits every Audi Q5 e-hybrid, because they all share the same Type 2 charging inlet. That includes:
- Audi Q5 e-hybrid Quattro Sport
- Audi Q5 e-hybrid Quattro 270 kW
- Audi Q5 e-hybrid Quattro S Line
- Audi Q5 e-hybrid Quattro Edition 1
- Audi Q5 e-hybrid Quattro Vorsprung
- Audi Q5 e-hybrid Quattro Black Edition
Whichever Q5 e-hybrid trim you drive, it is the same cable, so you can order with confidence.

How long does it take?
Charging
the Audi Q5 e-hybrid.
The Audi Q5 e-hybrid is the third-generation Q5 PHEV, introduced in the UK from 2025 and available in both SUV and Sportback body styles with 299PS and 367PS outputs. The battery grows substantially over the old Q5 TFSIe to 25.9kWh gross (around 20.7kWh usable), pushing the all-electric range into territory that covers the majority of daily commutes on a single charge.
Charging uses a Type 2 inlet for AC, so the cable you carry is a Type 2 to Type 2 lead. The onboard AC charger is rated at 11kW on three phases. Unlike the Q3 e-hybrid, the Q5 e-hybrid has no DC rapid charging port, which means all charging is through the AC inlet. For a battery approaching 21kWh usable that is worth bearing in mind on longer trips.
Estimates based on battery size and charge power. Rapid (DC) times are for a 10 to 80% charge, the way manufacturers quote them. Real-world charging varies with temperature, battery state and the charger itself.
7.4 kW or 22 kW?
Which cable does
the Q5 e-hybrid need?
The Q5 e-hybrid's 11kW onboard AC charger can only reach its rated speed on a three-phase supply. Most UK homes run on a single-phase connection capped at 7.4kW, so for the majority of owners a 7.4kW Type 2 to Type 2 lead is the right choice: it delivers everything your home supply can provide and a full charge still takes only around 3 hours.
A three-phase cable becomes worthwhile if you have a three-phase home supply or regularly visit 22kW public AC stations. In either case the Q5 e-hybrid will accept up to 11kW, cutting the charge time to under 2 hours. Given that there is no DC option on this model, maximising AC speed matters more here than it does on a car with rapid charging as a fallback for long trips.
What does it cost to charge?
Filling roughly 20.7kWh usable from empty costs around £1.50 to £2 on an off-peak EV tariff at around 7.5p per kWh, or roughly £5 to £6 at a standard rate of around 27p per kWh. Because there is no DC rapid charging, any public top-up will always go through the AC inlet. On a 7.4kW home wallbox a full charge from empty takes around 3 hours, making overnight or workplace charging the most practical and economical routine. Check current tariff rates.

Audi Q5 e-hybrid FAQs
Good
questions.
Still not sure? Our team will confirm the right cable for your vehicle.
Contact usWhat length charging cable should I get?+−
5m suits most home and public charge points. Choose 7.5m or 10m if the charge point is far from your car's charging port or you park on the far side of a bay.
What charging cable does the Audi Q5 e-hybrid need?+−
A Type 2 to Type 2 cable for home wallboxes and public AC chargers. The Q5 e-hybrid has a Type 2 AC inlet rated at 11kW on three phases, but no DC rapid charging port. For most UK owners on a single-phase home supply, a 7.4kW Type 2 lead is the practical choice and delivers the full speed your wallbox can offer.
Can the Audi Q5 e-hybrid charge at 22kW?+−
No. The onboard AC charger is limited to 11kW on three phases. A 22kW cable or charger will still only deliver 11kW to the car, and only when connected to a three-phase supply. On a standard single-phase UK home connection the maximum is 7.4kW, which is what most owners will experience day to day.
How long does the Audi Q5 e-hybrid take to charge at home?+−
With around 20.7kWh usable, a full charge from empty takes roughly 3 hours on a 7.4kW single-phase wallbox. On a three-phase 11kW supply that drops to under 2 hours. There is no DC rapid charging on this model, so AC is the only option at public chargers as well. A standard 3-pin granny cable at 2.3kW would take around 9 hours.
What length cable do I need for the Audi Q5 e-hybrid?+−
A 5m Type 2 to Type 2 lead works well on most driveways and is simple to coil and store in a mid-size SUV. If your wallbox or public charging point is set back from where the inlet ends up when you park, a 7m cable takes any guesswork out of reach. Going to 10m is rarely necessary but useful for awkward layouts.
