Why this fits your Bentayga Hybrid+

The Bentley Bentayga Hybrid has a Type 2 inlet and a single-phase 7.2kW onboard charger. A 7.4kW cable already delivers its full AC speed. The 22kW option only helps if your next car charges faster.

How long does it take?

Charging
the Bentley Bentayga Hybrid.

The Bentley Bentayga Hybrid is a plug-in hybrid SUV in the facelifted 4V generation, on sale in the UK from 2023. It combines an 18kWh gross battery with Bentley's W12 or V6 combustion engine, giving a meaningful electric-only range for urban and short-distance driving before the petrol engine takes over. The Bentayga Hybrid charges through a Type 2 AC inlet with no DC rapid charging capability; the cable you need for a home wallbox or public AC charge point is a Type 2 to Type 2 lead.

The onboard AC charger is rated at 7.2kW on a single phase. That sits just within the ceiling of a standard UK home supply, so a full overnight charge is available from any 7.4kW wallbox. There is no CCS port, so rapid DC top-ups are not possible on this vehicle.

The Bentayga Hybrid has no DC rapid charging port. All charging is via the Type 2 AC inlet at up to 7.2kW. Rapid (DC) times are for a 10 to 80% charge, the way manufacturers quote them. Real-world charging varies with temperature, battery state and the charger itself.

7.4 kW or 22 kW?

Which cable does
the Bentayga Hybrid need?

At 7.2kW, the Bentayga Hybrid's onboard charger runs at just under the 7.4kW ceiling of a standard single-phase UK supply. A 7.4kW Type 2 to Type 2 cable is the correct and complete choice: the car draws its full 7.2kW through it on any suitable wallbox or public AC charge point. There is no advantage in a three-phase cable, as the onboard charger is a single-phase unit.

The absence of DC charging means the Type 2 to Type 2 lead is the only cable you need. Length choice comes down to your parking setup: 5m covers most driveways, but a 7m or 10m cable gives more flexibility if the wallbox and car are at opposite ends of a larger parking area.

What does it cost to charge?

Topping up the 18kWh gross battery from empty costs roughly £1 to £1.50 on an off-peak EV tariff at around 7.5p per kWh, and around £5 at a standard domestic rate of around 27p per kWh. The Bentayga Hybrid's battery is modest in size relative to a full BEV, so daily running on electricity costs very little to maintain if the car is plugged in regularly. Petrol costs for longer journeys fall outside these figures. Check current tariffs as rates change.

Good
questions.

Contact us
What charging cable does the Bentley Bentayga Hybrid need?+

The Bentley Bentayga Hybrid has a Type 2 inlet, so it needs a Type 2 to Type 2 cable for UK home and public charging. It charges on single-phase AC at up to 7.2kW.

Can the Bentley Bentayga Hybrid charge at 22kW?+

No, the Bentley Bentayga Hybrid has a single-phase onboard charger limited to 7.2kW, so a 7.4kW cable already delivers its full AC speed. A 22kW cable would only benefit a future car.

What length charging cable should I get?+

5m suits most home and public charge points. Choose 7.5m or 10m if the charge point is far from your car's charging port or you park on the far side of a bay.

What cable does the Bentley Bentayga Hybrid need?+

A Type 2 to Type 2 cable. The Bentayga Hybrid's AC inlet is Type 2, matching all UK home wallboxes and public AC charge points. A 7.4kW cable is the right choice: the car's onboard charger draws 7.2kW, just within the 7.4kW ceiling of a standard single-phase supply. No three-phase cable is needed.

Can the Bentley Bentayga Hybrid rapid charge on DC?+

No. The Bentayga Hybrid has no DC rapid charging port. Charging is limited to the Type 2 AC inlet at up to 7.2kW. This is a consideration on longer journeys where you might want to top up the electric range, as you are limited to standard AC charge points rather than rapid CCS chargers.

How long does the Bentley Bentayga Hybrid take to charge?+

At 7.2kW on a home wallbox, the 18kWh gross battery (around 15.2kWh usable) takes roughly 2 to 2.5 hours from empty to full. On a standard three-pin socket at around 2.3kW, expect around 6 to 7 hours. Plugging in overnight or while parked for a few hours is sufficient to keep the battery well charged for daily electric use.

What length cable suits a Bentley Bentayga Hybrid?+

A 5m cable is sufficient for most driveways and private parking arrangements. The Bentayga is a large SUV, so depending on how it is parked relative to the wallbox, a 7m or 10m cable may give a more comfortable reach without pulling the lead taut. Longer cables are heavier but manageable for a vehicle used daily.
