Bentley Flying Spur PHEV
Charging cable
Charges about 50% faster on 22 kW public posts than a 7.4 kW cable.
Why this fits your Flying Spur PHEV+−
The Bentley Flying Spur PHEV has a Type 2 inlet and a three-phase 11kW onboard charger. The 22kW cable carries its full 11kW on three-phase chargers. A 7.4kW cable would cap it. On a single-phase home wallbox both cables charge at the same 7.4kW.

Charging
the Bentley Flying Spur PHEV.
The Bentley Flying Spur PHEV is the fourth-generation Ultra Performance Hybrid saloon, on sale from 2024. It combines a V8 petrol engine with a plug-in hybrid drivetrain and a 25.9kWh battery, charging through a Type 2 inlet. For AC charging at home or at public charge points, you connect a Type 2 to Type 2 cable. There is no DC rapid charging on this model.
Bentley fits the Flying Spur PHEV with an onboard AC charger rated at 11kW on three phases. That rate will replenish the 25.9kWh battery in a little over two hours under ideal conditions. In practice, the speed you see at home depends on whether your wallbox and supply are single or three-phase.
Estimates based on battery size and charge power. Rapid (DC) times are for a 10 to 80% charge, the way manufacturers quote them. Real-world charging varies with temperature, battery state and the charger itself.
7.4 kW or 22 kW?
Which cable does
the Flying Spur PHEV need?
At 11kW on three phases, the Flying Spur PHEV's onboard charger is faster than a typical single-phase home wallbox can deliver. Single-phase supplies, which is what most UK homes have, cap charging at 7.4kW. So for the majority of owners, a standard 7.4kW Type 2 cable already gives you the full speed your driveway can provide, with no benefit from a pricier 22kW cable.
A 22kW-rated cable only makes a practical difference if you connect to a three-phase home supply or to 22kW public AC charge points. In those cases the Flying Spur will draw its full 11kW. Everywhere else, both cable types charge identically. Given the 25.9kWh battery and the relatively short charge times involved, a 5m cable covers virtually all home and public AC scenarios comfortably.
What does it cost to charge?
Filling the 25.9kWh battery costs around £2 on an off-peak tariff of roughly 7.5p per kWh, or around £7 at a standard rate of around 27p per kWh. As a PHEV, the Flying Spur rewards regular overnight home charging, keeping the electric-only range topped up between drives. Public AC charging is typically much more expensive, so relying on home charging is the sensible approach. Always check current rates, as tariffs change.

Bentley Flying Spur PHEV FAQs
Good
questions.
Still not sure? Our team will confirm the right cable for your vehicle.
Contact usCan the Bentley Flying Spur PHEV charge at 22kW?+−
Yes, the Bentley Flying Spur PHEV has a three-phase onboard charger, so with a 22kW cable and a three-phase supply it can charge at up to 11kW.
What length charging cable should I get?+−
5m suits most home and public charge points. Choose 7.5m or 10m if the charge point is far from your car's charging port or you park on the far side of a bay.
What charging cable does the Bentley Flying Spur PHEV need?+−
A Type 2 to Type 2 cable for use at home wallboxes and public AC charge points. The Flying Spur PHEV has a Type 2 inlet and no DC rapid charging port. A 5m cable is practical for most driveways and multi-storey car park columns.
Can the Bentley Flying Spur PHEV charge at 11kW?+−
Yes, provided you have a three-phase supply and a cable rated for three-phase use. The onboard charger supports up to 11kW three-phase. On a standard single-phase home wallbox, charging is capped at 7.4kW regardless of the cable you choose.
How long does the Bentley Flying Spur PHEV take to charge at home?+−
On a 7.4kW single-phase home wallbox, a full charge from empty takes roughly three and a half hours. On an 11kW three-phase supply it completes in around two hours and twenty minutes. A standard 3-pin socket is far slower and is not a practical regular option.
Does the Bentley Flying Spur PHEV have DC rapid charging?+−
No. The Flying Spur PHEV charges via AC only, through the Type 2 inlet. There is no CCS or CHAdeMO port. For a 25.9kWh battery, the 11kW AC charge rate keeps turnaround times short enough that DC is not included on this model.
