Why this fits your Deepal S05+

The Changan Deepal S05 has a Type 2 inlet and a three-phase 11kW onboard charger. The 22kW cable carries its full 11kW on three-phase chargers. A 7.4kW cable would cap it. On a single-phase home wallbox both cables charge at the same 7.4kW.

How long does it take?

Charging
the Changan Deepal S05.

The Changan Deepal S05 is a first-generation electric crossover launched for the UK market in 2025 and 2026. It carries a 68.8kWh NMC battery and uses a Type 2 inlet for AC charging and a CCS port for DC rapid charging. The cable you bring for home or public AC sessions is a Type 2 to Type 2 lead. DC charging at up to 200kW uses the charger's own tethered cable and is not something you supply yourself.

The S05's onboard AC charger is rated at 11kW on three phases. At that rate the battery fills in around six to seven hours, though most UK home supplies are single-phase and limit charging to 7.4kW, which adds a couple of hours to that estimate. The car's DC rapid charging capability is particularly strong for its class, with a 10 to 80 percent charge taking around 23 minutes at a suitable rapid charger.

7.4 kW or 22 kW?

Which cable does
the Deepal S05 need?

The Deepal S05 has an 11kW three-phase onboard AC charger, but the vast majority of UK homes are on a single-phase supply, which limits home charging to 7.4kW regardless of the cable rating. A 7.4kW Type 2 lead gives you the full speed your home wallbox can provide and is the practical choice for most buyers.

Stepping up to a 22kW-rated three-phase cable only brings a benefit if you can access a three-phase supply at home or use 22kW public AC posts regularly. At those locations the S05 will charge at its full 11kW, which shaves time off a charge compared to 7.4kW. On any standard single-phase connection the two cable ratings are interchangeable for speed. A 5m cable handles most home driveways without difficulty.

What does it cost to charge?

Charging the 68.8kWh battery from empty costs roughly £5 to £5.50 on an off-peak EV tariff of around 7.5p per kWh, and around £18 to £19 at a standard rate of around 27p per kWh. Using a dedicated overnight EV tariff is comfortably the cheapest way to keep the S05 topped up. Public DC rapid charging can cost significantly more per kWh, so it is best reserved for longer journeys. Check current tariffs before estimating costs.

Good

Contact us
What length charging cable should I get?+

5m suits most home and public charge points. Choose 7.5m or 10m if the charge point is far from your car's charging port or you park on the far side of a bay.

What charging cable does the Changan Deepal S05 need?+

A Type 2 to Type 2 cable for home wallboxes and public AC charge points. For DC rapid charging the S05 uses a CCS port and the rapid charger's own tethered cable. A 5m Type 2 to Type 2 lead is a practical length for most driveways.

Can the Changan Deepal S05 charge at 22kW?+

No. The S05's onboard AC charger is rated at 11kW on three phases. A 22kW cable cannot push more power than the car's charger will accept. On a typical single-phase home supply charging is capped at 7.4kW whatever cable you use.

How long does the Changan Deepal S05 take to charge at home?+

On a 7.4kW single-phase home wallbox, the 68.8kWh battery takes around nine to ten hours from empty, which fits comfortably overnight. On an 11kW three-phase supply the same charge takes around six to seven hours. DC rapid charging at up to 200kW is far quicker and is handled by the charger's own cable.

How fast does the Changan Deepal S05 rapid charge?+

The S05 supports DC rapid charging via a CCS port at up to 200kW peak. In practice, a 10 to 80 percent charge takes around 23 minutes at a compatible rapid charger. Actual speed depends on charger output, battery temperature, and starting state of charge. The rapid charger's tethered cable is used, not one you supply.
