Chery Tiggo 8 Super Hybrid
Charging cable
Full AC charging speed for your car.
Why this fits your Tiggo 8 Super Hybrid+−
The Chery Tiggo 8 Super Hybrid has a Type 2 inlet and a single-phase 6.6kW onboard charger. A 7.4kW cable already delivers its full AC speed. The 22kW option only helps if your next car charges faster.

How long does it take?
Charging
the Chery Tiggo 8 Super Hybrid.
The Chery Tiggo 8 Super Hybrid is a first-generation seven-seat plug-in hybrid SUV, launched in the UK from 2025. It shares the same CSH powertrain as the Tiggo 7, with an 18.3kWh battery, a Type 2 AC inlet, and a DC fast charging port at up to 40kW. For home and public AC charging you supply a Type 2 to Type 2 cable. DC charging uses the rapid charger's tethered cable.
The Tiggo 8's onboard AC charger runs at 6.6kW on a single phase. That is comfortably within the range a standard UK home wallbox delivers, meaning the car is the limiting factor rather than your cable or socket. A full charge from empty takes roughly two and a half to three hours on a wallbox, making it a realistic top-up during the school run or a working day.
Estimates based on battery size and charge power. Rapid (DC) times are for a 10 to 80% charge, the way manufacturers quote them. Real-world charging varies with temperature, battery state and the charger itself.
7.4 kW or 22 kW?
Which cable does
the Tiggo 8 Super Hybrid need?
Like its sibling the Tiggo 7, the Tiggo 8's onboard AC charger is capped at 6.6kW single-phase. There is no gain from buying a higher-rated cable: the car draws 6.6kW whatever you connect. A 7.4kW Type 2 to Type 2 cable is the straightforward, practical purchase for both home wallboxes and public AC charge posts.
Three-phase cables and 22kW-rated leads are simply unnecessary here. The single-phase 6.6kW charger cannot use three-phase capacity at all, so the extra rating is wasted. Choose a well-made 5m Type 2 cable and you have everything you need for day-to-day AC charging. If your wallbox is positioned some distance from where you typically park, a 7m lead gives you extra flexibility without overcomplicating things.
What does it cost to charge?
The 18.3kWh battery costs around £1.50 to fill on an off-peak EV tariff of roughly 7.5p per kWh, or around £5 at a standard rate of around 27p per kWh. As a seven-seat family PHEV, the Tiggo 8 is likely to be plugged in frequently, so access to a home wallbox makes a real difference to running costs. Public AC charging is generally more expensive per kWh, though the short charge times keep the cost manageable. Check current tariff rates.

Chery Tiggo 8 Super Hybrid FAQs
Good
questions.
Still not sure? Our team will confirm the right cable for your vehicle.
Contact usCan the Chery Tiggo 8 Super Hybrid charge at 22kW?+−
No, the Chery Tiggo 8 Super Hybrid has a single-phase onboard charger limited to 6.6kW, so a 7.4kW cable already delivers its full AC speed. A 22kW cable would only benefit a future car.
What length charging cable should I get?+−
5m suits most home and public charge points. Choose 7.5m or 10m if the charge point is far from your car's charging port or you park on the far side of a bay.
What charging cable does the Chery Tiggo 8 Super Hybrid need?+−
A Type 2 to Type 2 cable for home wallboxes and public AC charge points. The onboard charger operates at 6.6kW single-phase, so a standard 7.4kW Type 2 cable is the right choice. DC fast charging at up to 40kW uses the rapid charger's own tethered cable.
Can the Chery Tiggo 8 Super Hybrid use a 22kW cable?+−
No benefit. The 6.6kW single-phase onboard charger cannot use the capacity of a 22kW cable. Charge speed is 6.6kW whatever the cable rating. A standard 7.4kW Type 2 cable delivers exactly the same result at a lower cost.
How long does the Chery Tiggo 8 Super Hybrid take to charge at home?+−
At 6.6kW on a home wallbox, the 18.3kWh battery takes around two and a half to three hours from empty. That makes a full top-up realistic during a working day at home or while parked at a destination charger. DC fast charging at up to 40kW brings that time down considerably at a suitable rapid charger.
Does the Chery Tiggo 8 Super Hybrid have DC rapid charging?+−
Yes. The Tiggo 8 Super Hybrid supports DC fast charging at up to 40kW through a separate DC port. The rapid charger's own tethered cable is used for these sessions. The Type 2 inlet for AC charging is a separate port and is where your portable cable connects at home and at public AC points.
