Chery Tiggo 9 Super Hybrid
Charging cable
Full AC charging speed for your car.
Why this fits your Tiggo 9 Super Hybrid+−
The Chery Tiggo 9 Super Hybrid has a Type 2 inlet and a single-phase 6.6kW onboard charger. A 7.4kW cable already delivers its full AC speed. The 22kW option only helps if your next car charges faster.

How long does it take?
Charging
the Chery Tiggo 9 Super Hybrid.
The Chery Tiggo 9 Super Hybrid is a first-generation plug-in hybrid SUV, arriving in the UK from 2025. It shares a platform with the Omoda 9 SHS and carries a substantially larger 34.5kWh battery than its Tiggo 7 and Tiggo 8 siblings. It charges via a Type 2 inlet for AC and supports DC fast charging at around 70kW, subject to confirmation of the final UK specification. For home and public AC charging, you supply a Type 2 to Type 2 cable.
The onboard AC charger runs at 6.6kW on a single phase, the same unit as in the smaller Tiggo models. The larger battery means a full charge takes longer: around five to five and a half hours from empty on a home wallbox. DC fast charging at up to 70kW makes longer stops much quicker if needed.
Estimates based on battery size and charge power. Rapid (DC) times are for a 10 to 80% charge, the way manufacturers quote them. Real-world charging varies with temperature, battery state and the charger itself.
7.4 kW or 22 kW?
Which cable does
the Tiggo 9 Super Hybrid need?
Despite the Tiggo 9's larger 34.5kWh battery, the AC charger is the same 6.6kW single-phase unit as in the Tiggo 7 and Tiggo 8. That means the car's own charger is still the ceiling, not your cable or wallbox. A 7.4kW Type 2 to Type 2 cable is all you need for home and public AC charging: no higher-rated cable will speed things up.
Three-phase cables offer nothing here. The 6.6kW single-phase charger cannot draw three-phase current, so any claim of benefit from a 22kW cable simply does not apply. Choose a reliable 5m or 7m Type 2 lead. Because the battery is considerably larger than in the smaller Tiggo models, topping up regularly rather than waiting for empty is a sensible habit. DC fast charging at up to 70kW is available through the rapid charger's tethered cable.
What does it cost to charge?
Charging the 34.5kWh battery from empty costs roughly £2.50 on an off-peak EV tariff of around 7.5p per kWh, or around £9 to £9.50 at a standard rate of around 27p per kWh. With a battery this size, a dedicated overnight home charging schedule keeps costs predictable. DC rapid charging is significantly more expensive per kWh and is better suited to top-ups on longer journeys. Check current tariffs before estimating costs, as rates change.

Chery Tiggo 9 Super Hybrid FAQs
Good
questions.
Still not sure? Our team will confirm the right cable for your vehicle.
Contact usCan the Chery Tiggo 9 Super Hybrid charge at 22kW?+−
No, the Chery Tiggo 9 Super Hybrid has a single-phase onboard charger limited to 6.6kW, so a 7.4kW cable already delivers its full AC speed. A 22kW cable would only benefit a future car.
What length charging cable should I get?+−
5m suits most home and public charge points. Choose 7.5m or 10m if the charge point is far from your car's charging port or you park on the far side of a bay.
What charging cable does the Chery Tiggo 9 Super Hybrid need?+−
A Type 2 to Type 2 cable for home wallboxes and public AC charge points. The onboard AC charger operates at 6.6kW single-phase, so a standard 7.4kW Type 2 cable is the correct choice. DC fast charging uses the rapid charger's own tethered cable.
Can the Chery Tiggo 9 Super Hybrid charge at 22kW or faster on AC?+−
No. The 6.6kW single-phase onboard charger is the limiting factor on AC. A 22kW cable, or any higher-rated cable, delivers the same 6.6kW as a standard 7.4kW lead. There is no AC charge speed above 6.6kW on this car.
How long does the Chery Tiggo 9 Super Hybrid take to charge at home?+−
At 6.6kW on a home wallbox, the 34.5kWh battery takes around five to five and a half hours from empty. That fits within an overnight charge or a longer day's parking. DC fast charging at up to 70kW shortens that time significantly at a suitable charger.
Does the Chery Tiggo 9 Super Hybrid support DC rapid charging?+−
Yes, at up to around 70kW, though UK-specific confirmation is advised at launch. DC charging uses the rapid charger's tethered cable and is much faster than AC for longer stops. The Type 2 AC inlet for home and public AC charging is separate from the DC port.
