Citroen C5 Aircross Electric
Charging cable
Charges about 50% faster on 22 kW public posts than a 7.4 kW cable.
Why this fits your C5 Aircross Electric+−
The Citroen C5 Aircross Electric has a Type 2 inlet and a three-phase 11kW onboard charger. The 22kW cable carries its full 11kW on three-phase chargers. A 7.4kW cable would cap it. On a single-phase home wallbox both cables charge at the same 7.4kW.

How long does it take?
Charging
the Citroen C5 Aircross Electric.
The Citroen C5 Aircross Electric is a mid-size family SUV, the second generation of the C5 Aircross range, and Citroen's move to a fully electric version of one of its most popular models. It sits on the STLA Medium platform and went on sale in the UK from 2025, with two battery options: a 73kWh pack and a larger 97kWh Extended Range version. Both use a Type 2 inlet for AC charging and a CCS port for DC rapid charging.
For day-to-day use at home or at public AC charge points, you bring your own Type 2 to Type 2 cable. The C5 Aircross Electric's onboard AC charger accepts up to 11kW on three phases. DC rapid charging, at up to 160kW depending on the battery variant and charger, uses the charger's own tethered cable and is not something you buy separately.
Select your battery above. The 97kWh Extended Range offers a longer WLTP range and faster DC speeds on the right rapid charger. Rapid (DC) times are for a 10 to 80% charge, the way manufacturers quote them. Real-world charging varies with temperature, battery state and the charger itself.
7.4 kW or 22 kW?
Which cable does
the C5 Aircross Electric need?
The C5 Aircross Electric's onboard AC charger is rated at 11kW on three phases. For most UK households, which have a single-phase supply, charging is limited to 7.4kW regardless of how the cable is rated. A 7.4kW Type 2 to Type 2 cable at 5m covers the full speed a typical home wallbox can deliver and is the sensible starting point for most owners.
A 22kW three-phase cable only makes sense if you have access to a three-phase supply at home, which is uncommon in UK domestic properties, or if you regularly plug into 22kW public AC charge points. In those situations the C5 Aircross Electric will pull its full 11kW. On a standard home setup both cable ratings charge at the same speed, so the cheaper 7.4kW option is the practical choice for everyday use.
What does it cost to charge?
Filling the 97kWh Extended Range battery from empty costs roughly £7 to £7.50 on an off-peak tariff of around 7.5p per kWh, and around £26 at a standard rate of about 27p per kWh. The 73kWh pack works out at around £5.50 off-peak or around £20 at standard rates. Overnight charging on a dedicated EV tariff keeps running costs low. Check current tariff rates, as these vary.

Citroen C5 Aircross Electric FAQs
Good
questions.
Still not sure? Our team will confirm the right cable for your vehicle.
Contact usWhat length charging cable should I get?+−
5m suits most home and public charge points. Choose 7.5m or 10m if the charge point is far from your car's charging port or you park on the far side of a bay.
What charging cable does the Citroen C5 Aircross Electric need?+−
A Type 2 to Type 2 cable for home wallboxes and public AC charge points. A 5m cable suits most driveways. The car's onboard charger accepts up to 11kW on three phases, so a 7.4kW cable is sufficient for a typical single-phase UK home setup, delivering the full speed a standard wallbox can provide.
Can the Citroen C5 Aircross Electric charge at 22kW?+−
No. The onboard AC charger is limited to 11kW, so it cannot exceed that figure whatever cable you use. If you have a three-phase supply or use a 22kW public AC charger, the car will draw up to 11kW. On a typical single-phase UK home it charges at 7.4kW, and a 22kW cable will not change that.
How long does the Citroen C5 Aircross Electric take to charge at home?+−
On a 7.4kW home wallbox the 73kWh battery takes roughly ten hours from empty, and the 97kWh Extended Range around thirteen to fourteen hours. Both are straightforward overnight charges. A 3-pin granny charger is significantly slower and is best kept as a backup option rather than a daily routine.
What length cable do I need for the Citroen C5 Aircross Electric?+−
A 5m Type 2 to Type 2 cable covers most home driveways and standard public parking bays. If your wallbox is a good distance from where you typically park, or the charging inlet ends up on the far side of the car, a 7m or 10m lead removes the stress of measuring every time you pull in.
