Cupra Leon eHybrid
Charging cable
Full AC charging speed for your car.
Why this fits your Leon eHybrid+−
The Cupra Leon eHybrid has a Type 2 inlet and a single-phase 3.6kW onboard charger. A 7.4kW cable already delivers its full AC speed. The 22kW option only helps if your next car charges faster.

How long does it take?
Charging
the Cupra Leon eHybrid.
The Cupra Leon eHybrid is a plug-in hybrid available in hatchback and estate (Sportstourer) body styles, sold in the UK from 2020. It pairs a 1.4-litre turbocharged petrol engine with an electric motor and a 10.4kWh usable battery, offering a useful electric-only range for typical daily commutes alongside the flexibility of a petrol engine on longer runs. The charging inlet is Type 2, the European standard for plug-in vehicles.
Home and public AC charging uses a Type 2 to Type 2 cable that you supply yourself. The Leon eHybrid's onboard AC charger runs at 3.6kW single-phase. There is no DC rapid charging option on this model: charge speed is always 3.6kW regardless of the wallbox or public charger you connect to. The estate Sportstourer version shares these same charging specifications.
Estimates based on battery size and charge power. Rapid (DC) times are for a 10 to 80% charge, the way manufacturers quote them. Real-world charging varies with temperature, battery state and the charger itself.
7.4 kW or 22 kW?
Which cable does
the Leon eHybrid need?
The Leon eHybrid's onboard charger is capped at 3.6kW, so the cable rating above 3.6kW makes no difference to charging speed. A standard 7.4kW Type 2 to Type 2 cable at 5m is the right choice: it handles the car's charge rate, works at home wallboxes and public AC points, and costs less than a higher-rated cable that would deliver no benefit on this car.
At 3.6kW the 10.4kWh battery takes around three hours from empty, so a short stop at work or plugging in during an evening's shopping often recovers a good portion of the range. A 5m cable handles most home and public charging situations. If your wallbox or socket is positioned some distance from where you park the Leon, a 7m lead avoids awkward stretching without excess cable to coil up.
What does it cost to charge?
Filling the 10.4kWh usable battery from empty costs under £1 on an off-peak EV tariff of around 7.5p per kWh, or around £2.80 at a standard rate of about 27p per kWh. The compact battery means per-charge costs are low, so plugging in regularly at home is both cheap and straightforward. Check current tariff rates as these change.

Cupra Leon eHybrid FAQs
Good
questions.
Still not sure? Our team will confirm the right cable for your vehicle.
Contact usCan the Cupra Leon eHybrid charge at 22kW?+−
No, the Cupra Leon eHybrid has a single-phase onboard charger limited to 3.6kW, so a 7.4kW cable already delivers its full AC speed. A 22kW cable would only benefit a future car.
What length charging cable should I get?+−
5m suits most home and public charge points. Choose 7.5m or 10m if the charge point is far from your car's charging port or you park on the far side of a bay.
What charging cable does the Cupra Leon eHybrid need?+−
A Type 2 to Type 2 cable for home wallboxes and public AC charge points. The onboard AC charger is rated at 3.6kW single-phase, so a cable rated at 3.6kW or above works fine. There is no DC rapid charging on the Leon eHybrid. A 5m cable is the practical everyday choice for most owners.
Can the Cupra Leon eHybrid rapid charge?+−
No. The Leon eHybrid has no DC rapid charging capability. All charging goes through the onboard 3.6kW AC charger via a Type 2 connection, whether at a home wallbox or a public AC point. The charge speed is always 3.6kW, so a rapid charge station does not benefit this car.
How long does the Cupra Leon eHybrid take to charge at home?+−
At 3.6kW the 10.4kWh usable battery takes around three hours from empty to full. An overnight charge is more than enough to start each day with a full electric range. Plugging in for a couple of hours at work or at a car park restores most of the electric-only capacity, making short daily drives consistently electric.
What length cable do I need for the Cupra Leon eHybrid?+−
A 5m Type 2 to Type 2 cable suits most home driveways and public parking bays. The hatchback and estate versions share the same charging inlet, so the guidance is the same for both. If the wallbox is further from your usual parking spot than average, a 7m lead avoids any strain on the cable and keeps connections clean.
