Denza D9
Charging cable
Charges about 50% faster on 22 kW public posts than a 7.4 kW cable.
Why this fits your D9+−
The Denza D9 has a Type 2 inlet and a three-phase 11kW onboard charger. The 22kW cable carries its full 11kW on three-phase chargers. A 7.4kW cable would cap it. On a single-phase home wallbox both cables charge at the same 7.4kW.

How long does it take?
Charging
the Denza D9.
The Denza D9 is a seven-seat MPV from the Denza brand, a joint venture between BYD and Mercedes-Benz, with UK market entry expected in late 2026. The first UK variant arrives as a plug-in hybrid with a substantial 58.5kWh battery, giving it considerable electric-only range for a PHEV. It uses a Type 2 inlet for AC charging, and DC rapid charging specs are yet to be fully confirmed for the UK market.
For home and public AC charging you use a Type 2 to Type 2 cable. The D9 PHEV's onboard AC charger is rated at 11kW on three phases. Most UK homes are single-phase, which caps home charging at 7.4kW. At a three-phase public AC point or a three-phase home supply the car can access its full 11kW. DC rapid-charging details should be verified with Denza as UK launch specifications are confirmed.
Estimates based on battery size and charge power. Rapid (DC) times are for a 10 to 80% charge, the way manufacturers quote them. Real-world charging varies with temperature, battery state and the charger itself.
7.4 kW or 22 kW?
Which cable does
the D9 need?
The Denza D9's 11kW three-phase onboard charger means there is genuine AC charging headroom beyond what most UK home supplies can deliver. On a standard single-phase home wallbox you will charge at 7.4kW, and a 7.4kW Type 2 to Type 2 cable is the right match: it delivers the full single-phase rate and works on all public Type 2 AC points. For a 58.5kWh PHEV battery that is a sensible overnight charging rate.
If you have a three-phase supply at home or regularly use 22kW public AC stations, a 22kW-rated Type 2 cable unlocks the D9's full 11kW rate at those locations. On a single-phase supply the 22kW cable charges at the same 7.4kW as the cheaper one. Given this is a large family MPV likely to be parked on a driveway overnight, the 7.4kW cable covers most owners' needs well.
What does it cost to charge?
Charging the 58.5kWh battery from empty costs roughly £4.40 on an off-peak EV tariff of around 7.5p per kWh, and around £15.80 at a standard rate of around 27p per kWh. For a PHEV with this size of battery, regular overnight charging makes a significant difference to how often the petrol engine runs. Always check current tariff rates, particularly for a recently launched model where tariffs and running costs are still becoming clear.

Denza D9 FAQs
Good
questions.
Still not sure? Our team will confirm the right cable for your vehicle.
Contact usWhat charging cable does the Denza D9 need?+−
The Denza D9 has a Type 2 inlet, so it needs a Type 2 to Type 2 cable for UK home and public charging. It charges on up to three-phase AC at up to 11kW.
What length charging cable should I get?+−
5m suits most home and public charge points. Choose 7.5m or 10m if the charge point is far from your car's charging port or you park on the far side of a bay.
What cable does the Denza D9 need for home charging?+−
A Type 2 to Type 2 cable. The D9 PHEV has an 11kW three-phase onboard charger, but on a standard UK single-phase home supply it draws 7.4kW. A 7.4kW Type 2 cable is the practical pick for most owners. If you have a three-phase supply, a 22kW cable lets the car reach its full 11kW.
Can the Denza D9 charge at 22kW?+−
No. Its onboard AC charger is rated at 11kW on three phases. A 22kW cable cannot push the car beyond 11kW, and on a UK single-phase home supply the maximum is 7.4kW. The car's onboard charger always sets the upper limit, not the cable.
How long does the Denza D9 take to charge at home?+−
At 7.4kW on a single-phase wallbox, the 58.5kWh battery fills from empty in around 8 hours, fitting a standard overnight charge. At 11kW on a three-phase supply that falls to roughly 5.5 hours. As a PHEV with a large battery, regular overnight charging keeps fuel use low on typical daily journeys.
Does the Denza D9 support DC rapid charging?+−
DC rapid charging is expected but full UK specs were not confirmed at the time of writing. Check with your Denza dealer for confirmed charging specifications before purchase. For home and public AC use, a Type 2 to Type 2 cable is what you supply; rapid DC chargers use their own tethered cables.
