Why this fits your No4 E-Tense+

The DS No4 E-Tense has a Type 2 inlet and a three-phase 11kW onboard charger. The 22kW cable carries its full 11kW on three-phase chargers. A 7.4kW cable would cap it. On a single-phase home wallbox both cables charge at the same 7.4kW.

How long does it take?

Charging
the DS No4 E-Tense.

The DS No4 E-Tense is a fully electric hatchback launched by DS in 2025, effectively a clean-sheet BEV variant of the DS 4 line. It carries a 61kWh gross battery (around 58.3kWh usable) and uses DS's latest charging architecture: a Type 2 inlet for AC and a CCS port for DC rapid charging at up to 120kW. On a 120kW rapid charger, the manufacturer quotes a 20 to 80 percent charge in approximately 30 minutes.

For home wallboxes and public AC points, you supply a Type 2 to Type 2 cable. The DS No4 E-Tense's onboard AC charger is rated at 11kW and operates on three phases. In the UK most homes are single-phase, so home charging is typically capped at 7.4kW. At a three-phase public AC point or a three-phase home supply, the car can pull its full 11kW.

7.4 kW or 22 kW?

Which cable does
the No4 E-Tense need?

The DS No4 E-Tense's 11kW three-phase onboard charger gives it more AC capability than most home supplies can deliver. On a standard UK single-phase wallbox the car charges at 7.4kW, and a 7.4kW Type 2 cable is the right match for that setup: it is cheaper, widely available, and delivers exactly the speed your single-phase supply allows. For many owners this is the only cable they will ever need.

If you have a three-phase supply at home or plan to use 22kW public AC charge points, a 22kW-rated Type 2 cable unlocks the No4's full 11kW AC rate at those locations. On any single-phase circuit the extra cable rating makes no difference to speed. Consider where you will actually be charging before deciding: for typical UK home-only use, the 7.4kW cable wins on price and practicality.

What does it cost to charge?

Charging the 58.3kWh usable battery from empty costs roughly £4.40 on an off-peak EV tariff of around 7.5p per kWh, and around £15.75 at a standard rate of around 27p per kWh. Charging overnight on a dedicated EV tariff is the most economical routine. Public DC rapid charging at typical rates of 45p to 80p per kWh is considerably more costly and better suited to longer trips. Always verify current tariff rates.

Good

Contact us
What charging cable does the DS No4 E-Tense need?+

The DS No4 E-Tense has a Type 2 inlet, so it needs a Type 2 to Type 2 cable for UK home and public charging. It charges on up to three-phase AC at up to 11kW.

What length charging cable should I get?+

5m suits most home and public charge points. Choose 7.5m or 10m if the charge point is far from your car's charging port or you park on the far side of a bay.

What cable does the DS No4 E-Tense need for home charging?+

A Type 2 to Type 2 cable. For the majority of UK owners on a single-phase supply, a 7.4kW cable delivers the maximum speed available at home. If you have a three-phase supply or use 22kW public AC points regularly, a 22kW cable lets the No4 reach its 11kW onboard AC charging rate.

Can the DS No4 E-Tense charge at 22kW?+

No. Its onboard AC charger is rated at 11kW on three phases. A 22kW cable will not push it beyond 11kW, and on a UK single-phase home supply the rate is 7.4kW regardless of cable rating. For 22kW the cable must be compatible, but the car is always the upper limit.

How long does the DS No4 E-Tense take to charge at home?+

On a 7.4kW single-phase wallbox, the 58.3kWh usable battery takes around 8 hours from empty, fitting a standard overnight charge. On a three-phase supply at 11kW, that reduces to roughly 5.5 hours. DC rapid charging at up to 120kW can cover 20 to 80 percent in around 30 minutes at compatible charge points.

What length of cable is best for the DS No4 E-Tense?+

A 5m cable covers most home driveways and public charge-point bays. If your wallbox is positioned further from where you typically park, or the cable needs to reach around the car, a 7m or 10m lead gives extra flexibility without the bulk of an excessively long cable.
