Why this fits your SF90 Stradale+

The Ferrari SF90 Stradale has a Type 2 inlet and a single-phase 3.6kW onboard charger. A 7.4kW cable already delivers its full AC speed. The 22kW option only helps if your next car charges faster.

How long does it take?

Charging
the Ferrari SF90 Stradale.

The Ferrari SF90 Stradale is Ferrari's flagship PHEV coupe, produced from 2020 to 2025 as the F173 generation. It uses three electric motors alongside a twin-turbocharged V8 to produce enormous combined output, with a 7.9kWh battery providing a short but meaningful electric-only capability for low-speed running. The AC inlet is Type 2, compatible with UK home wallboxes and public AC chargers.

For plug-in charging, the cable you need is a Type 2 to Type 2 lead. The SF90 Stradale's onboard AC charger is rated at around 3.6kW, a modest figure that reflects the car's engineering priorities: the battery exists to support extreme performance rather than to cover everyday commuting distances on electricity alone. DC rapid charging is not available on this model.

7.4 kW or 22 kW?

Which cable does
the SF90 Stradale need?

The SF90 Stradale's onboard charger caps at around 3.6kW, which is the lowest AC charging rate among the Ferraris. Whatever wallbox or cable you attach, the car draws no more than that. A standard 7.4kW Type 2 cable is the right choice: it has ample headroom above the car's actual draw, and there is no case for a 22kW cable when the charger cannot use even a quarter of that capacity.

At 3.6kW the 7.9kWh battery takes approximately two hours and fifteen minutes from empty to full, which fits comfortably into an overnight charge or an evening at a restaurant. A 5m Type 2 to Type 2 cable is the practical option for most owners; the SF90 is a two-door coupe, so reaching the inlet from either end of a standard parking space is straightforward.

What does it cost to charge?

Charging the 7.9kWh battery from empty costs under £1 at an off-peak tariff of around 7.5p per kWh, and roughly £2 at a standard rate of around 27p per kWh. Charging costs are negligible given the battery size, and the car is most economical in the hands of owners who plug in daily to keep the battery topped up for urban segments. Check current tariff rates, as these change.

Good
questions.

Contact us
Can the Ferrari SF90 Stradale charge at 22kW?+

No, the Ferrari SF90 Stradale has a single-phase onboard charger limited to 3.6kW, so a 7.4kW cable already delivers its full AC speed. A 22kW cable would only benefit a future car.

What length charging cable should I get?+

5m suits most home and public charge points. Choose 7.5m or 10m if the charge point is far from your car's charging port or you park on the far side of a bay.

What charging cable does the Ferrari SF90 Stradale need?+

A Type 2 to Type 2 cable for home wallboxes and public AC points. The SF90 Stradale's onboard charger is rated at around 3.6kW, so any 7.4kW cable is more than sufficient. A 22kW or three-phase cable offers no benefit as the car cannot draw more than around 3.6kW on AC.

Can the Ferrari SF90 Stradale charge at 7.4kW or 22kW?+

No. The onboard AC charger is limited to around 3.6kW. The car charges at that rate regardless of how fast the wallbox or cable is rated. This is a deliberate engineering choice for a high-performance PHEV with a small battery, not a shortcoming of the charging setup.

How long does the Ferrari SF90 Stradale take to charge?+

At the car's maximum AC rate of around 3.6kW, the 7.9kWh battery takes a little over two hours from empty to full. Plugging in each evening via a wallbox or a standard three-pin socket is enough to keep the battery ready for the next day's urban driving.

Does the Ferrari SF90 Stradale support DC rapid charging?+

No. The SF90 Stradale is AC-only for plug-in charging, with no CCS or CHAdeMO inlet. The battery is compact at 7.9kWh, and the 3.6kW AC charger fills it in around two hours, making DC rapid charging unnecessary for this kind of vehicle use.
