Charge speeds

Across the Ferrari range.

Every Ferrari here uses a Type 2 inlet, so one Type 2 to Type 2 cable fits the range. On-board AC charging ranges from about 3.6kW to 7.4kW depending on the model. A cable never charges faster than your car's on-board charger or your home supply allows, so on a standard single-phase UK home a 7.4 kW cable gives the full speed available.

Speeds are on-board AC limits. Rapid DC uses the station's own cable.

Charging guide

Charging
your Ferrari.

Ferrari's current electrified range consists of four plug-in hybrid models: the 296 GTB, 296 GTS, SF90 Stradale, and SF90 Spider. All four use a Type 2 inlet for AC charging, so the same cable type covers the entire Ferrari PHEV line-up. DC fast charging is not available on any of these models.

The onboard AC charger speed varies slightly across the four cars: the 296 GTB and SF90 Stradale charge at 3.6 to 3.7kW on a single phase, while the 296 GTS and SF90 Spider charge at up to 7.4kW. In all cases the batteries are small, typically under 8kWh, so charge times are short regardless of which model you have. Pick your model below for exact figures, or read the brand-wide guidance underneath.

What charging cable does a Ferrari need?

Every Ferrari PHEV uses a Type 2 inlet, so the cable you need is a Type 2 to Type 2. A 5m length is the standard choice and suits most home wallboxes and public charge points. No Ferrari needs a Type 1 cable, and none supports DC fast charging through the Type 2 port.

None of the Ferrari PHEVs has a three-phase onboard charger, and none charges above 7.4kW on AC. The 296 GTB and SF90 Stradale charge at around 3.6 to 3.7kW, while the 296 GTS and SF90 Spider reach up to 7.4kW on a single phase. A standard 7.4kW cable is more than sufficient for even the fastest AC Ferrari, and there is no benefit in choosing a larger cable.

Because the batteries in these cars are small, typically between 7.4kWh and 7.9kWh, a full charge from empty takes only a couple of hours at 3.7kW and under an hour at 7.4kW. A 3-pin granny charger will also top them up overnight if needed, making the Type 2 cable most useful for charging at public points or a wallbox where speed matters more.

Do all Ferraris use a Type 2 charging cable?+

Yes. All four Ferrari plug-in hybrids sold in the UK, the 296 GTB, 296 GTS, SF90 Stradale, and SF90 Spider, use a Type 2 inlet. They all take the same Type 2 to Type 2 cable for home and public AC charging, and no Ferrari needs a Type 1 cable.

What charging cable does a Ferrari SF90 need?+

A Type 2 to Type 2 cable, 5m for most situations. The SF90 Stradale charges at around 3.6kW on AC and the SF90 Spider at up to 7.4kW. A standard 7.4kW cable covers both variants. The batteries are under 8kWh, so even at 3.6kW a full charge takes well under three hours.

Can any Ferrari charge at 22kW or 11kW on AC?+

No. None of the Ferrari PHEVs has a three-phase onboard charger. The fastest is 7.4kW on a single phase, found on the 296 GTS and SF90 Spider. A 7.4kW cable is the maximum useful cable for any Ferrari, and a larger one would make no difference to charge speed.

Do any Ferraris support DC fast charging?+

No. The 296 GTB, 296 GTS, SF90 Stradale, and SF90 Spider are all plug-in hybrids that charge via Type 2 AC only. None of them has a CCS DC port, so DC fast charging is not available on any current Ferrari PHEV.

What length cable do I need for my Ferrari?+

5m suits most home wallboxes and public charge points. The charge port location varies by model, so check where your inlet is before deciding. Longer cables cost more and are heavier to coil, so buy the shortest length that reaches your wallbox or public point comfortably.
