Charge speeds
Across the GWM range.
Every GWM here uses a Type 2 inlet, so one Type 2 to Type 2 cable fits the range. AC charging tops out at 11kW across the range. A cable never charges faster than your car's on-board charger or your home supply allows, so on a standard single-phase UK home a 7.4 kW cable gives the full speed available.
Speeds are on-board AC limits. Rapid DC uses the station's own cable.
Charging guide
Charging
your GWM.
GWM's UK electric car range currently consists of two Ora-branded battery-electric cars: the Ora 03, a retro-styled compact saloon, and the Ora 07, a larger fastback. Both use a Type 2 inlet and share an 11kW three-phase onboard AC charger, so the same Type 2 to Type 2 cable works for either model at home and at public AC charge points.
The only decision is cable rating and length, which comes down to your home supply and how far the charge point is from your parking spot. Pick your model below for exact recommended cables and charge times, or read the brand-wide guidance underneath.
What charging cable does a GWM need?
Both GWM Ora models use a Type 2 inlet, so the cable you need is a Type 2 to Type 2. A 5m lead suits most driveways and standard public charge points; choose 7m or 10m for on-street parking or if your wallbox is some distance from where the car parks.
The Ora 03 and Ora 07 each have an 11kW three-phase onboard charger. The vast majority of UK homes are single-phase, which caps AC charging at 7.4kW regardless of cable rating, so a 7.4kW cable gives the full speed your home supply can deliver. A 22kW cable is only worth the extra cost if you have a three-phase supply at home or regularly stop at 22kW public AC points, where either Ora will draw its full 11kW.
For most GWM owners charging at home, a single 5m 7.4kW Type 2 cable is all that is needed for both the Ora 03 and Ora 07.
Do all GWM electric cars use a Type 2 charging cable?+−
Yes. The Ora 03 and Ora 07 both use a Type 2 inlet for AC charging. Both models take a Type 2 to Type 2 cable at home and at public AC charge points, and neither car needs a Type 1 cable.
What charging cable does a GWM Ora 03 or Ora 07 need?+−
A Type 2 to Type 2 cable. Both models have an 11kW three-phase onboard charger, but on a standard single-phase UK home supply they charge at 7.4kW. A 7.4kW cable gives the full speed available at home; a 22kW cable only adds value on a three-phase supply or 22kW public AC points.
Can a GWM Ora charge at 22kW AC?+−
The Ora 03 and Ora 07 both have 11kW three-phase onboard chargers, so they charge at up to 11kW on a three-phase supply or a 22kW public AC point, not at 22kW. On a single-phase home, the maximum is 7.4kW. A 22kW cable still works but never delivers more than 11kW to either car.
Is there a difference in charging between the Ora 03 and Ora 07?+−
Both share the same 11kW three-phase AC charging setup, so the cable choice is identical. The Ora 07 has a larger 83.5kWh battery versus the Ora 03's 63kWh, which means longer charge times from empty, but the cable and speed for a given supply are the same for both models.
What length cable do I need for my GWM Ora?+−
5m suits most home wallboxes and public charge points. Choose 7m or 10m if you park on the street, use a shared charger, or your wallbox is positioned far from where the car sits. The shortest cable that reaches comfortably is the most practical choice, as longer cables are heavier to coil.
