Honda e:Ny1
Charging cable
Charges about 50% faster on 22 kW public posts than a 7.4 kW cable.
Why this fits your e:Ny1+−
The Honda e:Ny1 has a Type 2 inlet and a three-phase 11kW onboard charger. The 22kW cable carries its full 11kW on three-phase chargers. A 7.4kW cable would cap it. On a single-phase home wallbox both cables charge at the same 7.4kW.
Which Honda e:Ny1 versions does it fit?+
This cable fits every Honda e:Ny1, because they all share the same Type 2 charging inlet. That includes:
- Honda e:Ny1 Advance
- Honda e:Ny1 Elegance
Whichever e:Ny1 trim you drive, it is the same cable, so you can order with confidence.

How long does it take?
Charging
the Honda e:Ny1.
The Honda e:Ny1 is a fully electric compact SUV, Honda's first battery-electric crossover for the UK market, available from 2023 in Advance and Elegance trims. It carries a 68.8kWh battery with a WLTP range of around 256 miles, positioning it as a practical family SUV for everyday use and longer journeys. Charging at home or at public AC stations uses a Type 2 to Type 2 cable, while DC rapid charging uses the charger's own tethered CCS lead.
The e:Ny1's onboard AC charger supports up to 11kW on three phases. On a typical single-phase UK home supply, the practical ceiling is 7.4kW, which is where most owners will charge day to day. At a three-phase 22kW public AC point with a suitable cable, the car can draw its full 11kW. DC rapid charging tops out at around 78kW, covering the energy for long motorway runs at public fast chargers.
Estimates based on battery size and charge power. Rapid (DC) times are for a 10 to 80% charge, the way manufacturers quote them. Real-world charging varies with temperature, battery state and the charger itself.
7.4 kW or 22 kW?
Which cable does
the e:Ny1 need?
For home charging on a single-phase wallbox, a 7.4kW Type 2 cable gives the e:Ny1 the full speed available from a standard UK supply. The car's 11kW onboard charger cannot reach its potential on single-phase power, but that is a supply constraint, not a cable limitation. A 7.4kW cable is the sensible, cost-effective choice for the vast majority of e:Ny1 owners.
If your home has a three-phase supply, or you regularly stop at 22kW public AC chargers, a 22kW-rated Type 2 cable lets the e:Ny1 draw its full 11kW. That cuts a full charge from empty to around six to seven hours instead of closer to nine. On a standard single-phase home the 22kW cable charges at the same 7.4kW as the cheaper option, so the upgrade only pays off if you genuinely have access to three-phase power.
What does it cost to charge?
Filling the 68.8kWh battery from empty costs roughly £5.15 on an off-peak tariff of around 7.5p per kWh, and around £18.60 at a standard rate of around 27p per kWh. Overnight charging on a dedicated EV tariff keeps running costs well below petrol equivalents. Public rapid charging is considerably more expensive per kWh, so it is better reserved for long trips. Check current tariffs, as they vary.

Good
questions.

Contact usWhat charging cable does the Honda e:Ny1 need?+−
The Honda e:Ny1 has a Type 2 inlet, so it needs a Type 2 to Type 2 cable for UK home and public charging. It charges on up to three-phase AC at up to 11kW.
What length charging cable should I get?+−
5m suits most home and public charge points. Choose 7.5m or 10m if the charge point is far from your car's charging port or you park on the far side of a bay.
What cable does the Honda e:Ny1 need?+−
A Type 2 to Type 2 cable for home wallboxes and public AC charge points. The e:Ny1 supports up to 11kW on three-phase AC, but on a typical single-phase home supply a 7.4kW cable provides the maximum available speed. For CCS DC rapid charging, the public charger supplies its own tethered cable.
Can the Honda e:Ny1 charge at 22kW?+−
No. The e:Ny1's onboard AC charger is limited to 11kW on three phases. Even on a 22kW public AC charger with a 22kW cable, the car will draw no more than 11kW. On a single-phase home supply the limit drops to 7.4kW, regardless of cable rating.
How long does the Honda e:Ny1 take to charge at home?+−
On a typical 7.4kW home wallbox, the 68.8kWh battery takes around nine to ten hours from empty to full, comfortably covered overnight. On a three-phase supply with a 22kW-rated cable, the full 11kW reduces that to roughly six to seven hours. A 3-pin granny lead is only realistic as an occasional backup.
What cable length should I choose for the Honda e:Ny1?+−
A 5m cable is suitable for most driveways where the wallbox is close to the car. If your charger is mounted further from your usual parking position, a 7m or 10m lead avoids having to move the car to reach. Choose length for convenience rather than for any speed advantage.
