Charge speeds
Across the Honda range.
Every Honda here uses a Type 2 inlet, so one Type 2 to Type 2 cable fits the range. On-board AC charging ranges from about 6.6kW to 11kW depending on the model. A cable never charges faster than your car's on-board charger or your home supply allows, so on a standard single-phase UK home a 7.4 kW cable gives the full speed available.
Speeds are on-board AC limits. Rapid DC uses the station's own cable.

Charging
your Honda.
Honda's plug-in range currently includes the Honda e city car, the e:Ny1 compact SUV, the Super-N, and the CR-V PHEV. All four models use a Type 2 inlet, so the same Type 2 to Type 2 cable works across the entire Honda range for home and public AC charging.
AC charging speed varies considerably between models. The e:Ny1 and Super-N have 11kW three-phase onboard chargers, the Honda e is limited to 6.6kW single-phase, and the CR-V PHEV charges at around 6.8kW on a single phase. That difference is what determines whether a bigger cable adds any real value for your Honda. Pick your model below for exact charging times and its recommended cable, or read the brand-wide guidance underneath.
What charging cable does a Honda need?
Every Honda plug-in charges through a Type 2 inlet, so you need a Type 2 to Type 2 cable for home and public AC charging. A 5m length suits most driveways and home wallboxes. Step up to 7m or 10m if you park on the street or your wallbox is mounted a long way from where the car sits. No Honda model requires a Type 1 cable.
The e:Ny1 and Super-N have 11kW three-phase onboard chargers. Almost all UK homes are single-phase, which caps home charging at 7.4kW regardless of cable rating, so for most owners a 7.4kW cable delivers the full home speed available. A 22kW cable only adds speed on a three-phase supply or at a 22kW public AC point, where these models will pull their full 11kW.
The Honda e charges at 6.6kW single-phase and the CR-V PHEV at around 6.8kW, so a 7.4kW cable is already at or above what either of them can draw. There is no benefit to buying a larger cable for these models. In short, a single 5m 7.4kW Type 2 cable suits every Honda in the range.

Contact usDo all Honda EVs use a Type 2 charging cable?+−
Yes. Every Honda plug-in hybrid and electric vehicle on sale in the UK, including the Honda e, e:Ny1, Super-N, and CR-V PHEV, uses a Type 2 inlet. They all take the same Type 2 to Type 2 cable for home and public AC charging, and no Honda model requires a Type 1 cable.
What charging cable does a Honda e:Ny1 need?+−
A Type 2 to Type 2 cable, 5m for most driveways. The e:Ny1 has an 11kW three-phase onboard charger, but on a standard single-phase home supply it charges at 7.4kW. A 22kW cable only unlocks extra speed on a three-phase supply or at a 22kW public AC charger.
Can a Honda charge at 22kW AC?+−
No Honda currently charges at 22kW on AC. The e:Ny1 and Super-N top out at 11kW on three phases, and the Honda e and CR-V PHEV are single-phase only. On a normal home supply every Honda charges at 7.4kW or less, and a 22kW cable would not provide any benefit at home.
What cable does a Honda e or CR-V PHEV need?+−
A Type 2 to Type 2 cable. The Honda e charges at 6.6kW and the CR-V PHEV at around 6.8kW, both single-phase, so a standard 7.4kW cable is more than enough for either. There is no reason to pay for a larger cable for these models.
What length cable do I need for my Honda?+−
5m suits most home wallboxes and public charge points. Go for 7m or 10m if you park on the street, have an awkward driveway layout, or your wallbox is positioned far from where the car charges. Buy the shortest length that reaches comfortably.
