Isuzu D-Max EV
Charging cable
Charges about 50% faster on 22 kW public posts than a 7.4 kW cable.
Why this fits your D-Max EV+−
The Isuzu D-Max EV has a Type 2 inlet and a three-phase 11kW onboard charger. The 22kW cable carries its full 11kW on three-phase chargers. A 7.4kW cable would cap it. On a single-phase home wallbox both cables charge at the same 7.4kW.
Which Isuzu D-Max EV versions does it fit?+
This cable fits every Isuzu D-Max EV, because they all share the same Type 2 charging inlet. That includes:
- Isuzu D-Max EV Dl40 Dcb
- Isuzu D-Max EV Dl40 Ecb
- Isuzu D-Max EV Cross Dcb
- Isuzu D-Max EV Cross Ecb
- Isuzu D-Max EV V Cross Dcb
Whichever D-Max EV trim you drive, it is the same cable, so you can order with confidence.

How long does it take?
Charging
the Isuzu D-Max EV.
The Isuzu D-Max EV is a fully electric version of Isuzu's well-regarded double-cab pickup truck, arriving in the UK from 2026. It carries a 66.9kWh battery and four-wheel drive as standard across all variants, from the workhorse DL40 to the V-Cross flagship. Like all current UK EVs it uses a Type 2 inlet for AC charging; the CCS port handles rapid DC sessions using the charger's own tethered cable.
When you plug in at home or at a public AC point, the lead you bring is a Type 2 to Type 2 cable. The D-Max EV's onboard AC charger accepts up to 11kW on three phases. Its DC rapid charging is modest at up to 50kW, reflecting a commercial-vehicle priority on payload and durability rather than rapid charge speed.
Estimates based on battery size and charge power. Rapid (DC) times are for a 10 to 80% charge, the way manufacturers quote them. Real-world charging varies with temperature, battery state and the charger itself.
7.4 kW or 22 kW?
Which cable does
the D-Max EV need?
The D-Max EV's onboard charger accepts up to 11kW, but that rate requires a three-phase supply. UK homes almost always run on single-phase electricity, capping AC charging at 7.4kW whatever the cable's rating. A 7.4kW Type 2 cable is the right tool for a home wallbox: it delivers the maximum speed your domestic supply allows and costs less than a three-phase alternative.
If the D-Max EV is charged at a business premises or depot with a three-phase 22kW post, the car will draw its full 11kW through any Type 2 cable you use. A 22kW rated cable future-proofs you for that scenario. For most private driveways, the 7.4kW lead is all that is needed. Given the pickup body, a longer cable (7m or 10m) can be worth considering if the wallbox is set away from where you park.
What does it cost to charge?
Charging the 66.9kWh battery from empty costs roughly £5 on an off-peak EV tariff of around 7.5p per kWh, and around £18 at a standard rate of around 27p per kWh. For a vehicle used primarily for work or towing, overnight depot or driveway charging on a time-of-use tariff is by far the most cost-effective approach. Check current rates, as tariffs change.

Isuzu D-Max EV FAQs
Good
questions.
Still not sure? Our team will confirm the right cable for your vehicle.
Contact usWhat charging cable does the Isuzu D-Max EV need?+−
The Isuzu D-Max EV has a Type 2 inlet, so it needs a Type 2 to Type 2 cable for UK home and public charging. It charges on up to three-phase AC at up to 11kW.
Can the Isuzu D-Max EV charge at 22kW?+−
Yes, the Isuzu D-Max EV has a three-phase onboard charger, so with a 22kW cable and a three-phase supply it can charge at up to 11kW.
What length charging cable should I get?+−
5m suits most home and public charge points. Choose 7.5m or 10m if the charge point is far from your car's charging port or you park on the far side of a bay.
What cable does the Isuzu D-Max EV need?+−
A Type 2 to Type 2 cable for home wallboxes and public AC chargers. The D-Max EV's onboard charger handles up to 11kW on three phases. For a standard single-phase home supply a 7.4kW cable delivers the full available speed; choose a 22kW cable if you charge from a three-phase point at a depot or workplace.
How fast does the Isuzu D-Max EV charge on AC?+−
Up to 11kW on a three-phase supply, or 7.4kW on a typical UK single-phase home supply. At 7.4kW the 66.9kWh battery takes around 9 to 10 hours from empty, fitting neatly into an overnight charge. DC rapid charging tops out at 50kW, reaching around 80% charge in roughly one hour.
Can the D-Max EV use rapid DC chargers?+−
Yes, via its CCS port. The D-Max EV's peak DC rate is 50kW, which is more modest than many passenger EVs. At that rate, an 80% charge takes roughly one hour. Rapid DC sessions use the charger's own tethered cable, not one you buy separately.
What cable length should I choose for the Isuzu D-Max EV?+−
A 5m cable covers many driveways, but given the length of a pickup truck and the likelihood of parking in tight commercial spaces, a 7m or 10m lead gives extra flexibility. Choose the length based on how far your wallbox sits from where the front of the cab ends up when parked.
