Jeep Compass Electric
Charging cable
Charges about 50% faster on 22 kW public posts than a 7.4 kW cable.
Why this fits your Compass Electric+−
The Jeep Compass Electric has a Type 2 inlet and a three-phase 11kW onboard charger. The 22kW cable carries its full 11kW on three-phase chargers. A 7.4kW cable would cap it. On a single-phase home wallbox both cables charge at the same 7.4kW.

How long does it take?
Charging
the Jeep Compass Electric.
The Jeep Compass Electric is a fully electric compact SUV and marks Jeep's move to a dedicated BEV platform, available in the UK from 2025. It carries a 73.7kWh usable battery and charges through a Type 2 inlet for AC sessions and a CCS port for DC rapid charging. Rapid DC charging uses the charger's own tethered cable; the lead you bring is a Type 2 to Type 2 cable for AC.
The Compass Electric's onboard AC charger accepts up to 11kW on three phases, giving it a solid home charging rate overnight. DC rapid charging peaks at up to 160kW, which makes it competitive at motorway services and on longer trips.
Estimates based on battery size and charge power. Rapid (DC) times are for a 10 to 80% charge, the way manufacturers quote them. Real-world charging varies with temperature, battery state and the charger itself.
7.4 kW or 22 kW?
Which cable does
the Compass Electric need?
The Compass Electric's onboard AC charger can draw up to 11kW on a three-phase supply. The majority of UK homes, however, operate on a single-phase supply, which naturally limits AC charging to 7.4kW regardless of what the cable is rated at. For home use, a 7.4kW Type 2 cable gives you the full speed a standard UK wallbox can supply, and there is no cost benefit to going bigger.
A 22kW cable becomes worthwhile if you regularly charge at 22kW public AC posts or if your property has a three-phase supply. At those points the Compass Electric pulls its full 11kW. On a standard single-phase home setup, a 22kW cable charges at exactly the same 7.4kW as the cheaper alternative, so it only adds value if public three-phase charging is a regular part of your routine.
What does it cost to charge?
Filling the 73.7kWh battery from empty costs roughly £5 to £6 on an off-peak EV tariff of around 7.5p per kWh, and around £20 at a standard rate of around 27p per kWh. Home charging overnight is comfortably the cheapest way to run the Compass Electric on a daily basis. Public rapid charging typically costs 45p to 80p per kWh, making it best suited to longer journeys rather than routine top-ups. Always check current tariff rates before building your own cost estimate.

Jeep Compass Electric FAQs
Good
questions.
Still not sure? Our team will confirm the right cable for your vehicle.
Contact usWhat charging cable does the Jeep Compass Electric need?+−
The Jeep Compass Electric has a Type 2 inlet, so it needs a Type 2 to Type 2 cable for UK home and public charging. It charges on up to three-phase AC at up to 11kW.
What length charging cable should I get?+−
5m suits most home and public charge points. Choose 7.5m or 10m if the charge point is far from your car's charging port or you park on the far side of a bay.
What cable does the Jeep Compass Electric need?+−
A Type 2 to Type 2 cable for home wallboxes and public AC charge points. The Compass Electric charges at up to 11kW on three phases. For a typical UK single-phase home supply a 7.4kW cable delivers the maximum available speed; a 22kW cable only adds benefit if you regularly use three-phase public AC chargers.
Can the Jeep Compass Electric charge at 22kW?+−
No. Its onboard AC charger tops out at 11kW. A 22kW cable cannot make the car charge faster than 11kW, and on a standard single-phase UK home supply the rate is capped at 7.4kW regardless of the cable you use.
How long does the Jeep Compass Electric take to charge at home?+−
On a 7.4kW home wallbox the 73.7kWh battery takes around 10 hours from empty, which fits neatly into an overnight charge. On a three-phase supply at 11kW the time drops to around 6.5 to 7 hours. DC rapid charging at up to 160kW significantly reduces charge times on longer trips.
What length cable do I need for the Jeep Compass Electric?+−
A 5m cable is the most common choice and suits the majority of driveways. If your wallbox is positioned further from where you park, or the charging port sits on the far side of the car from the socket, a 7m or 10m lead gives extra flexibility.
