KGM Torres EVX
Charging cable
Charges about 50% faster on 22 kW public posts than a 7.4 kW cable.
Why this fits your Torres EVX+−
The KGM Torres EVX has a Type 2 inlet and a three-phase 11kW onboard charger. The 22kW cable carries its full 11kW on three-phase chargers. A 7.4kW cable would cap it. On a single-phase home wallbox both cables charge at the same 7.4kW.

Charging
the KGM Torres EVX.
The KGM Torres EVX is a first-generation fully electric SUV available in the UK from 2024. It uses a 73.4kWh usable battery and charges through a Type 2 inlet for AC and a CCS port for DC rapid sessions. For home charging and public AC points, you connect with a Type 2 to Type 2 cable.
The Torres EVX's onboard AC charger is rated at 11kW on three phases. At a standard single-phase UK home wallbox, the car is limited to 7.4kW regardless of the charger's rating. Where a three-phase supply is available, or at a 22kW public AC point, the car can use its full 11kW. For quicker public top-ups the Torres EVX accepts up to 120kW DC, using the charger's tethered cable rather than anything you carry.
Estimates based on battery size and charge power. Rapid (DC) times are for a 10 to 80% charge, the way manufacturers quote them. Real-world charging varies with temperature, battery state and the charger itself.
7.4 kW or 22 kW?
Which cable does
the Torres EVX need?
The Torres EVX supports 11kW AC charging, which is above the 7.4kW ceiling of a single-phase home supply. For most UK owners a 7.4kW Type 2 cable is the practical choice for home charging and delivers the maximum speed a standard wallbox can provide. At that rate the large 73.4kWh battery comfortably fills overnight.
If you have access to a three-phase supply at home or regularly plug into 22kW public AC points, a 22kW three-phase cable lets the Torres EVX charge at its full 11kW, reducing the time needed to top up significantly. On a standard single-phase home setup, the higher-rated cable charges at exactly the same 7.4kW as the cheaper option, so it is only worth choosing if you know you will use that capacity.
What does it cost to charge?
Charging the 73.4kWh battery from empty on an off-peak tariff of around 7.5p per kWh comes to around £5.50. At a standard rate of around 27p per kWh the same charge is approximately £20. Overnight home charging on a dedicated EV tariff is the most economical way to run the Torres EVX day to day. Public rapid charging is significantly more expensive per kWh, so it works best as a supplement on longer trips. Always check current tariff rates, as they change.

KGM Torres EVX FAQs
Good
questions.
Still not sure? Our team will confirm the right cable for your vehicle.
Contact usWhat length charging cable should I get?+−
5m suits most home and public charge points. Choose 7.5m or 10m if the charge point is far from your car's charging port or you park on the far side of a bay.
What charging cable does the KGM Torres EVX need?+−
A Type 2 to Type 2 cable for home and public AC charging. The Torres EVX's onboard charger handles up to 11kW on three phases. Most UK owners on a single-phase home supply will get 7.4kW, for which a 7.4kW cable is sufficient. A three-phase 22kW cable unlocks the full 11kW on compatible supplies or public 22kW points.
Can the KGM Torres EVX charge at 22kW?+−
No. The Torres EVX's AC charger is rated at 11kW, so it cannot exceed that speed on AC regardless of what the cable or charge point provides. To reach 11kW you also need a three-phase supply, which is uncommon in UK homes. On a standard single-phase home wallbox the car charges at 7.4kW.
How long does the KGM Torres EVX take to charge at home?+−
On a 7.4kW single-phase home wallbox, the 73.4kWh battery takes roughly 10 to 11 hours from empty. On a three-phase supply at 11kW that comes down to around 7 hours. An overnight charge from a wallbox covers the battery comfortably for most daily driving.
What length cable do I need for the KGM Torres EVX?+−
A 5m cable works for most driveways. The Torres EVX is a full-size SUV with a reasonably long body, so if your wallbox is mounted some distance from your usual parking position, or the socket ends up on the far side of the car, a 7m or 10m lead gives you the reach you need without any compromise on charging speed.
