Kia EV6
Charging cable
Charges about 50% faster on 22 kW public posts than a 7.4 kW cable.
Why this fits your EV6+−
The Kia EV6 has a Type 2 inlet and a three-phase 11kW onboard charger. The 22kW cable carries its full 11kW on three-phase chargers. A 7.4kW cable would cap it. On a single-phase home wallbox both cables charge at the same 7.4kW.
Which Kia EV6 versions does it fit?+
This cable fits every Kia EV6, because they all share the same Type 2 charging inlet. That includes:
- Kia EV6 Air
- Kia EV6 GT-Line
- Kia EV6 GT-Line S
- Kia EV6 GT
Whichever EV6 trim you drive, it is the same cable, so you can order with confidence.

How long does it take?
Charging
the Kia EV6.
The Kia EV6 is a first-generation fully electric crossover SUV, on sale in the UK from 2021. Its headline feature is an 800V electrical architecture, the same platform used in the Hyundai Ioniq 5 and Porsche Taycan, which allows extremely fast DC charging. The main battery is 77.4kWh, with a smaller 58kWh rear-wheel-drive option also available. Both charge through a Type 2 inlet for AC and a CCS port for DC rapid sessions.
For everyday charging at home or on public AC points, the cable you bring is a Type 2 to Type 2 lead. The EV6's onboard AC charger supports up to 11kW on three phases. On a standard single-phase UK home supply, the charging rate is capped at 7.4kW. The car's real showpiece is its DC speed: the 77.4kWh version accepts up to 240kW at compatible ultra-rapid chargers, using the charger's own tethered cable rather than anything you buy.
Select your battery size above. Both benefit from the EV6's 800V architecture at DC rapid points, with the Long Range version reaching the highest peak speeds. Rapid (DC) times are for a 10 to 80% charge, the way manufacturers quote them. Real-world charging varies with temperature, battery state and the charger itself.
7.4 kW or 22 kW?
Which cable does
the EV6 need?
The EV6 supports 11kW three-phase AC, which is above what most UK home wallboxes can provide. On a single-phase home supply the charge rate tops out at 7.4kW, which comfortably fills both battery options overnight. A 7.4kW Type 2 to Type 2 cable is the right and most cost-effective choice for standard home charging.
A 22kW three-phase cable is worth having if you regularly use 22kW public AC chargers or have a three-phase home supply. In those situations the EV6 will pull its full 11kW, noticeably faster than a single-phase session. On a standard home setup the higher-rated cable makes no speed difference. The EV6's 800V DC speed is what this car is designed to exploit for fast top-ups on long journeys, and that always uses the charger's own tethered cable.
What does it cost to charge?
Charging the 77.4kWh battery from empty on an off-peak tariff of around 7.5p per kWh costs roughly £5.80. The 58kWh pack comes to around £4.35 for the same session. At a standard rate of around 27p per kWh those figures are around £21 and £16 respectively. Overnight home charging on an EV tariff is by far the cheapest way to run the EV6. Ultra-rapid public DC charging can cost 60p to 90p per kWh, so it is best saved for longer trips. Check current tariff rates.

Kia EV6 FAQs
Good
questions.
Still not sure? Our team will confirm the right cable for your vehicle.
Contact usCan the Kia EV6 charge at 22kW?+−
Yes, the Kia EV6 has a three-phase onboard charger, so with a 22kW cable and a three-phase supply it can charge at up to 11kW.
What length charging cable should I get?+−
5m suits most home and public charge points. Choose 7.5m or 10m if the charge point is far from your car's charging port or you park on the far side of a bay.
Does the Kia EV6 support V2L?+−
Yes. The Kia EV6 supports vehicle-to-load (V2L), so a V2L discharge cable lets you run tools, appliances and devices straight from the battery through the Type 2 inlet, at up to 3.6kW.
What charging cable does the Kia EV6 need?+−
A Type 2 to Type 2 cable for home and public AC charging. The EV6 supports up to 11kW AC on three phases, so a 7.4kW cable covers the full speed available on a standard UK home supply. A 22kW three-phase cable unlocks the full 11kW at compatible public points or a three-phase home supply. DC rapid charging uses the charger's own tethered cable.
Can the Kia EV6 charge at 240kW?+−
Yes, but only on DC at a compatible ultra-rapid charger. The EV6's 800V architecture supports up to 240kW DC on the 77.4kWh Long Range version. That uses the charger's own tethered cable, not one you carry. On AC at home the car is limited to 11kW on three phases, or 7.4kW on the typical single-phase home supply.
How long does the Kia EV6 take to charge at home?+−
On a 7.4kW home wallbox, the 77.4kWh Long Range battery takes around 11 hours from empty. The 58kWh Standard Range takes around 8 hours. On a three-phase supply at 11kW those times drop to roughly 7.5 and 5.5 hours. Most owners charge overnight and rely on rapid DC when covering long distances.
What length cable do I need for the Kia EV6?+−
A 5m cable suits most home driveways. The EV6 is a mid-size crossover with a reasonably compact footprint, so 5m is usually enough even with the inlet some distance from the wallbox. If you park with the inlet on the far side from your wallbox, a 7m lead removes any awkward pulling and is a worthwhile upgrade.
