Charging cable
Full AC charging speed for your car.
Why this fits your Range Rover Sport P440e/P510e+−
The Land Rover Range Rover Sport P440e/P510e has a Type 2 inlet and a single-phase 7kW onboard charger. A 7.4kW cable already delivers its full AC speed. The 22kW option only helps if your next car charges faster.

How long does it take?
Charging
the Land Rover Range Rover Sport P440e/P510e.
The Range Rover Sport P440e and P510e are the current-generation plug-in hybrid Sport models, built on the L461 platform from 2022 onwards. Land Rover gave these a serious uplift in battery capacity compared to the previous generation: the 38.2kWh pack (around 31.8kWh usable) enables a long electric-only range for a car of this type, and DC rapid charging via CCS at up to 50kW is supported. For AC charging at home or on public points, the inlet is Type 2 and the cable you bring is a Type 2 to Type 2 lead.
The onboard AC charger is single-phase and rated at up to 7kW. With 38.2kWh to fill, the AC charging time is considerably longer than the older 13.1kWh Sport PHEVs, so planning a regular overnight charge is the most practical approach for most owners.
Estimates based on battery size and charge power. Rapid (DC) times are for a 10 to 80% charge, the way manufacturers quote them. Real-world charging varies with temperature, battery state and the charger itself.
7.4 kW or 22 kW?
Which cable does
the Range Rover Sport P440e/P510e need?
The Range Rover Sport L461's onboard AC charger is rated at 7kW on a single-phase supply. That is the ceiling: whatever cable or wallbox you use, the car will accept no more than 7kW on AC. A 7.4kW Type 2 cable is the sensible and cost-effective pick. There is no advantage in buying an 11kW or 22kW cable for this car.
At 7kW, a full charge from empty takes around five to six hours, making an overnight charge the natural rhythm for this car. A 5m cable covers most home driveways comfortably. If your driveway is longer or your wallbox is mounted further from where you typically park, a 7m lead is worth choosing. DC rapid charging at up to 50kW uses the tethered cable at a CCS rapid charger.
What does it cost to charge?
Filling the 38.2kWh battery from empty costs roughly £2.85 at an off-peak rate of around 7.5p per kWh, or around £10 at a standard rate of 27p per kWh. The larger battery means more potential fuel savings compared to older PHEVs, so a dedicated overnight EV tariff can repay itself quickly. Public rapid charging at the DC port is faster but considerably more expensive per kWh. Check current rates, as tariffs move frequently.

Land Rover Range Rover Sport P440e/P510e FAQs
Good
questions.
Still not sure? Our team will confirm the right cable for your vehicle.
Contact usWhat charging cable does the Land Rover Range Rover Sport P440e/P510e need?+−
The Land Rover Range Rover Sport P440e/P510e has a Type 2 inlet, so it needs a Type 2 to Type 2 cable for UK home and public charging. It charges on single-phase AC at up to 7kW.
Can the Land Rover Range Rover Sport P440e/P510e charge at 22kW?+−
No, the Land Rover Range Rover Sport P440e/P510e has a single-phase onboard charger limited to 7kW, so a 7.4kW cable already delivers its full AC speed. A 22kW cable would only benefit a future car.
What length charging cable should I get?+−
5m suits most home and public charge points. Choose 7.5m or 10m if the charge point is far from your car's charging port or you park on the far side of a bay.
What cable does the Range Rover Sport P440e/P510e need?+−
A Type 2 to Type 2 cable for home wallboxes and public AC points. The onboard AC charger is rated at 7kW single-phase, so a 7.4kW cable delivers the full available speed. A higher-rated cable will not increase the charging speed on this car.
Can the Range Rover Sport L461 PHEV use DC rapid charging?+−
Yes. The L461-generation Sport PHEVs support DC rapid charging at up to 50kW through a CCS port. DC rapid charging uses the tethered cable at the rapid charge point, not a cable you bring yourself.
How long does the Range Rover Sport L461 PHEV take to charge at home?+−
On a 7kW home wallbox, filling the 38.2kWh battery from empty takes around five to six hours, which fits well into an overnight charge. On a standard 3-pin socket at 2.3kW, a full charge from empty takes around 16 hours.
How does the L461 Sport PHEV compare to the older L494 for charging?+−
The L461 (2022 onwards) has a much larger 38.2kWh battery versus the 13.1kWh in the L494 (2018 to 2021), and adds DC rapid charging at up to 50kW. Both generations use the same 7kW single-phase AC charger, so the bigger battery simply takes longer to fill from a home wallbox.
