Charge speeds
Across the Land Rover range.
Every Land Rover here uses a Type 2 inlet, so one Type 2 to Type 2 cable fits the range. On-board AC charging ranges from about 7kW to 22kW depending on the model. A cable never charges faster than your car's on-board charger or your home supply allows, so on a standard single-phase UK home a 7.4 kW cable gives the full speed available.
Speeds are on-board AC limits. Rapid DC uses the station's own cable.

Charging guide
Charging
your Land Rover.
Land Rover's plug-in range covers a wide spread of PHEVs, including the Defender P400e, Discovery Sport P300e, Range Rover Evoque P300e, Range Rover Velar P400e, Range Rover P400e, Range Rover P440e and P510e, Range Rover Sport P400e and P440e/P510e, and the all-electric Range Rover Electric. Every one of these models uses a Type 2 inlet, so they all take a Type 2 to Type 2 cable for home and public AC charging.
What changes between models is how fast each one charges on AC, which is what decides whether a standard or higher-rated cable is worth buying. Pick your model below for its exact charging times and recommended cable, or read the brand-wide guidance underneath.
What charging cable does a Land Rover need?
Every Land Rover model charges through a Type 2 inlet, so the lead you need is a Type 2 to Type 2 cable. A 5m length suits most driveways and wallboxes; go for 7m or 10m if your wallbox is far from the parking spot or you charge on the street.
The Range Rover Electric stands apart from the rest of the Land Rover line-up with a 22kW three-phase onboard charger, the highest in the range. On a three-phase supply or a 22kW public AC point it can pull the full 22kW. However, almost all UK homes are single-phase, which caps charging at 7.4kW regardless of the cable, so most owners will see 7.4kW at home. A 22kW cable is only worth the extra cost if you have a three-phase supply or regularly use 22kW public AC charge points.
All the Land Rover PHEVs, including the Defender P400e, Discovery Sport P300e, Range Rover and Range Rover Sport variants, charge at around 7.0kW on AC via a single-phase onboard charger. A standard 7.4kW cable is already more than these cars can draw, so there is no benefit in buying a larger one for PHEV models. A single 5m 7.4kW Type 2 cable suits every Land Rover PHEV in the range.

Contact usDo all Land Rovers use a Type 2 charging cable?+−
Yes. Every Land Rover plug-in model, from the Defender P400e and Range Rover Sport PHEVs to the full-electric Range Rover Electric, uses a Type 2 inlet. They all take the same Type 2 to Type 2 cable for home and public AC charging.
What charging cable does a Range Rover PHEV need?+−
A Type 2 to Type 2 cable. Range Rover PHEVs, including the P440e and P510e, charge at around 7.0kW on AC via a single-phase onboard charger. A 7.4kW cable gives you the full speed available and there is no benefit in buying a 22kW cable for these PHEV models.
What cable does the Range Rover Electric need?+−
A Type 2 to Type 2 cable. The Range Rover Electric has a 22kW three-phase onboard charger. On a standard single-phase UK home it charges at 7.4kW. A 22kW cable only unlocks faster charging on a three-phase supply or at a 22kW public AC charge point.
Can a Land Rover charge at 22kW?+−
Only the Range Rover Electric can use 22kW AC, and only on a three-phase supply or 22kW public charge point. All Land Rover PHEVs are capped at around 7.0kW on AC regardless of cable, so a 22kW cable offers no benefit for those models.
What length cable do I need for my Land Rover?+−
5m suits most home wallboxes and public charge points. Choose 7m or 10m for on-street parking, shared chargers, or when your wallbox is positioned far from the car's charging port. Buy the shortest length that reaches comfortably, as longer cables are heavier to coil and cost more.
