Why this fits your B05+

The Leapmotor B05 has a Type 2 inlet and a three-phase 11kW onboard charger. The 22kW cable carries its full 11kW on three-phase chargers. A 7.4kW cable would cap it. On a single-phase home wallbox both cables charge at the same 7.4kW.

How long does it take?

Charging
the Leapmotor B05.

The Leapmotor B05 is a fully electric hatchback entering the UK market in 2026 as part of Leapmotor's European expansion via its Stellantis partnership. It uses a single 67.1kWh LFP (lithium iron phosphate) battery, which offers good longevity and is less sensitive to deep discharges than many lithium-nickel chemistries. AC charging uses a Type 2 inlet, and the onboard charger supports up to 11kW on three phases. DC rapid charging via CCS reaches up to 174kW, making it genuinely quick at a rapid charger.

For home wallboxes and public AC points, the cable you bring is a Type 2 to Type 2 lead. The B05's 11kW three-phase onboard charger means cable choice is more nuanced than with a single-phase car: whether a 22kW or 7.4kW cable is the right buy depends on your home supply and how you charge day to day.

7.4 kW or 22 kW?

Which cable does
the B05 need?

The Leapmotor B05 has an 11kW three-phase onboard charger, but the vast majority of UK homes run on a single-phase supply, which caps AC charging at 7.4kW regardless of what cable you fit or what the car supports. For home charging on a standard single-phase wallbox, a 7.4kW cable gives you the full speed your supply can deliver and is the sensible everyday choice.

A 22kW cable becomes worth considering if you have a three-phase supply at home (uncommon in UK residential properties) or you regularly charge at 22kW public AC points, which are found at some workplaces and retail locations. At those points, the B05 will pull up to 11kW because that is its onboard charger's ceiling. The 22kW cable handles that comfortably, but on any single-phase setup, it delivers exactly the same 7.4kW as the cheaper option.

What does it cost to charge?

Charging the 67.1kWh LFP battery from empty costs roughly £5 on an off-peak tariff of around 7.5p per kWh, or around £18 at a standard rate of 27p per kWh. LFP batteries are generally comfortable being charged to 100% regularly, unlike some other chemistries, so there is no particular need to limit charge levels. Off-peak overnight charging is comfortably the cheapest option. Check current tariff rates, as they move over time.

Contact us
What charging cable does the Leapmotor B05 need?+

The Leapmotor B05 has a Type 2 inlet, so it needs a Type 2 to Type 2 cable for UK home and public charging. It charges on up to three-phase AC at up to 11kW.

What length charging cable should I get?+

5m suits most home and public charge points. Choose 7.5m or 10m if the charge point is far from your car's charging port or you park on the far side of a bay.

What cable does the Leapmotor B05 need?+

A Type 2 to Type 2 cable for home wallboxes and public AC points. For most UK homes with a single-phase supply, a 7.4kW cable delivers the full available charging speed. If you have a three-phase supply or regularly use 22kW public AC points, a 22kW three-phase cable lets the B05 draw its full 11kW.

Can the Leapmotor B05 charge at 22kW?+

No. The B05's onboard AC charger is rated at 11kW on three phases, not 22kW. On a three-phase supply or 22kW AC point, it will draw up to 11kW. On a standard single-phase UK home supply, it is limited to 7.4kW. No cable or charger can push more than 11kW through the B05's AC charger.

How long does the Leapmotor B05 take to charge at home?+

On a 7.4kW single-phase home wallbox, the 67.1kWh battery takes roughly nine hours from empty, making it well suited to overnight charging. On a three-phase 11kW supply, that drops to around six hours. DC rapid charging at up to 174kW is significantly faster; Leapmotor quote 30 to 80% in around 17 minutes at a suitable rapid charger.

What length cable suits the Leapmotor B05?+

A 5m cable is a good starting point for most driveways. If your wallbox is mounted in a garage or positioned well back from where you park, a 7m or 10m lead gives you extra reach. For a hatchback, the port location relative to your wallbox is worth checking before you commit to a length.
