Why this fits your C10 REEV+

The Leapmotor C10 REEV has a Type 2 inlet and a single-phase 6.6kW onboard charger. A 7.4kW cable already delivers its full AC speed. The 22kW option only helps if your next car charges faster.

How long does it take?

Charging
the Leapmotor C10 REEV.

The Leapmotor C10 REEV is a range-extender electric vehicle, available in the UK from 2025. Unlike a conventional plug-in hybrid, the C10 REEV is primarily an electric car: its 28.4kWh battery drives the wheels electrically at all times, while a small petrol engine acts solely as a generator to recharge the battery on longer journeys rather than driving the wheels directly. It charges through a Type 2 AC inlet for plug-in top-ups, and DC rapid charging via CCS is supported at up to 65kW.

The onboard AC charger is single-phase and rated at 6.6kW, meaning cable choice is clear-cut. For home wallboxes and public AC points, you bring a Type 2 to Type 2 cable; the 7.4kW option gives everything the car can accept on AC. DC rapid charging is useful for topping up the battery on a longer trip without relying on the petrol generator, and uses the rapid charger's own tethered cable.

7.4 kW or 22 kW?

Which cable does
the C10 REEV need?

The C10 REEV's onboard AC charger is limited to 6.6kW on a single-phase supply. A 7.4kW Type 2 cable is the correct choice: it provides everything the car's charger can accept, with a small margin to spare. Higher-rated cables, such as 11kW or 22kW three-phase options, will not charge the C10 REEV any faster on AC.

At 6.6kW, the 28.4kWh battery takes roughly four to five hours to fill from empty, which fits neatly into a daytime or overnight charge. A 5m cable is fine for most home driveways. If the cable has to reach further, a 7m lead removes any strain. When a full plug-in charge is not possible on a longer trip, the DC rapid charging capability at up to 65kW is a useful backup, drawing from the rapid charger's tethered cable.

What does it cost to charge?

Charging the 28.4kWh battery from empty costs roughly £2.15 at an off-peak tariff of around 7.5p per kWh, or around £7.70 at a standard rate of 27p per kWh. For a range-extender like the C10 REEV, regular plug-in charging makes a significant difference to fuel costs: the more of your mileage you cover on electric charge, the less petrol the range extender needs to burn. Check current tariffs, as energy rates vary.

Good
questions.

Contact us
What charging cable does the Leapmotor C10 REEV need?+

The Leapmotor C10 REEV has a Type 2 inlet, so it needs a Type 2 to Type 2 cable for UK home and public charging. It charges on single-phase AC at up to 6.6kW.

Can the Leapmotor C10 REEV charge at 22kW?+

No, the Leapmotor C10 REEV has a single-phase onboard charger limited to 6.6kW, so a 7.4kW cable already delivers its full AC speed. A 22kW cable would only benefit a future car.

What length charging cable should I get?+

5m suits most home and public charge points. Choose 7.5m or 10m if the charge point is far from your car's charging port or you park on the far side of a bay.

What cable does the Leapmotor C10 REEV need?+

A Type 2 to Type 2 cable for home wallboxes and public AC charge points. The C10 REEV's onboard AC charger is rated at 6.6kW single-phase, so a 7.4kW cable is the right choice. A 22kW or 11kW cable adds no benefit: the car's 6.6kW ceiling applies regardless of cable rating.

What is a range-extender EV and how does it charge?+

The C10 REEV always drives electrically through its motor. The petrol engine does not connect to the wheels; it runs only as a generator to top up the 28.4kWh battery when it runs low on a long journey. Plug-in charging via a Type 2 cable (AC) or a CCS rapid charger (DC) is the primary and cheapest way to refuel it.

How long does the Leapmotor C10 REEV take to charge at home?+

On a 6.6kW wallbox, the 28.4kWh battery takes around four to five hours from empty. On a 3-pin socket at 2.3kW, allow roughly 12 hours. DC rapid charging at up to 65kW is considerably faster for a mid-journey top-up and uses the rapid charger's own tethered cable.

How is the C10 REEV different from a standard PHEV for charging?+

A standard PHEV often runs the petrol engine through the drivetrain alongside the motor. The C10 REEV is always electrically driven: the petrol engine generates electricity only. From a charging perspective, the same Type 2 to Type 2 cable applies and the same 6.6kW AC limit applies, but keeping the battery topped up via plug-in charge is especially important for fuel economy in a range-extender.
