Why this fits your T03+

The Leapmotor T03 has a Type 2 inlet and a single-phase 6.6kW onboard charger. A 7.4kW cable already delivers its full AC speed. The 22kW option only helps if your next car charges faster.

How long does it take?

Charging
the Leapmotor T03.

The Leapmotor T03 is a compact city electric hatchback that arrived in the UK in 2024 via Stellantis. It is designed squarely for urban and suburban use, with a 37.3kWh battery that gives a practical city range. DC rapid charging via CCS is supported at up to 48kW, and AC charging uses a Type 2 inlet with a 6.6kW single-phase onboard charger. The cable you bring for home or public AC charging is a Type 2 to Type 2 lead.

The T03 is refreshingly uncomplicated when it comes to cable choice. Its 6.6kW single-phase onboard charger is the limiting factor on AC, and a standard 7.4kW cable gives it everything it can draw. There is no need to consider higher-rated cables for this car.

7.4 kW or 22 kW?

Which cable does
the T03 need?

The Leapmotor T03 has a 6.6kW single-phase onboard AC charger, which sets the ceiling for any AC charge session. A 7.4kW Type 2 cable is the correct and only cable you need: it comfortably handles the T03's maximum AC draw. Spending more on an 11kW or 22kW cable would be wasted money, as the car simply cannot use those higher rates.

For a compact city car, a 5m cable is almost always enough. The T03 is short and a typical wallbox position on a home driveway will not be far from the charging port. If you park in a tight space or near a garage wall, a 7m cable gives a little more reach. DC rapid charging at up to 48kW is handled by the rapid charger's own tethered cable and gives a usefully quick top-up on the road.

What does it cost to charge?

Charging the 37.3kWh battery from empty costs roughly £2.80 on an off-peak tariff of around 7.5p per kWh, or around £10 at a standard domestic rate of 27p per kWh. For a city car used mostly for short journeys, top-up charging from a partial state of charge is the norm, which keeps daily charging costs well below those headline figures. A 3-pin socket works at a pinch but a home wallbox makes the most of the 6.6kW rate. Check current tariff rates before choosing a supplier.

Good
questions.

Contact us
What charging cable does the Leapmotor T03 need?+

The Leapmotor T03 has a Type 2 inlet, so it needs a Type 2 to Type 2 cable for UK home and public charging. It charges on single-phase AC at up to 6.6kW.

Can the Leapmotor T03 charge at 22kW?+

No, the Leapmotor T03 has a single-phase onboard charger limited to 6.6kW, so a 7.4kW cable already delivers its full AC speed. A 22kW cable would only benefit a future car.

What length charging cable should I get?+

5m suits most home and public charge points. Choose 7.5m or 10m if the charge point is far from your car's charging port or you park on the far side of a bay.

What cable does the Leapmotor T03 need?+

A Type 2 to Type 2 cable for home wallboxes and public AC charge points. The T03's onboard AC charger is rated at 6.6kW single-phase. A 7.4kW cable is the right match. There is no advantage in buying a more expensive 11kW or 22kW cable; the T03 cannot use a higher AC rate.

Can the Leapmotor T03 charge at 22kW AC?+

No. The T03's onboard charger is limited to 6.6kW on a single-phase supply. Even connected to a 22kW charge point with a 22kW cable, the car will only accept 6.6kW. For a faster charge, the T03's DC rapid capability at up to 48kW via CCS is the option, using the rapid charger's tethered cable.

How long does the Leapmotor T03 take to charge at home?+

On a 6.6kW wallbox, the 37.3kWh battery takes around 5.5 to 6 hours from empty: a comfortable overnight charge. On a standard 3-pin socket at around 2.3kW, a full charge from empty takes roughly 16 hours. For daily short trips, a top-up charge rather than a full session is usually all that is needed.

Is a 5m cable long enough for the Leapmotor T03?+

For most home driveways, yes. The T03 is a compact hatchback, so the distance between a wall-mounted wallbox and the charging port is rarely more than a few metres. A 5m cable covers the majority of setups. A 7m cable is worth choosing only if your parking spot is unusually far from the wallbox.
