Why this fits your RZ+

The Lexus RZ has a Type 2 inlet and a three-phase 11kW onboard charger. The 22kW cable carries its full 11kW on three-phase chargers. A 7.4kW cable would cap it. On a single-phase home wallbox both cables charge at the same 7.4kW.

Which Lexus RZ versions does it fit?+

This cable fits every Lexus RZ, because they all share the same Type 2 charging inlet. That includes:

  • Lexus RZ 300E
  • Lexus RZ 300E Urban
  • Lexus RZ 450E Urban
  • Lexus RZ 300E Takumi
  • Lexus RZ 450E Takumi
  • Lexus RZ 500E Takumi

Whichever RZ trim you drive, it is the same cable, so you can order with confidence.

How long does it take?

Charging
the Lexus RZ.

The Lexus RZ is a premium electric SUV that arrived in the UK in 2023, sharing its e-TNGA platform with the Toyota bZ4X and Subaru Solterra. UK buyers can choose from a range of trims spanning the 300E and 450E, with the 300E using a single front motor and the 450E offering twin-motor all-wheel drive. All variants carry a 71.4kWh battery and charge through a Type 2 AC inlet alongside a CCS rapid port. The cable you supply for home and public AC charging is a Type 2 to Type 2 lead.

The RZ's onboard AC charger is rated at 11kW across all trim levels, operating on three phases. Rapid DC charging peaks at 150kW via the station's tethered CCS cable. Lexus builds the RZ with a focus on refinement and ownership quality, and the straightforward charging setup reflects that: one connector standard, one cable type, and a battery comfortably sized for overnight replenishment.

All RZ variants share the same 71.4kWh battery and 150kW DC rapid charging. The 11kW AC charger covers home and public AC top-ups. Rapid (DC) times are for a 10 to 80% charge, the way manufacturers quote them. Real-world charging varies with temperature, battery state and the charger itself.

7.4 kW or 22 kW?

Which cable does
the RZ need?

The RZ's 11kW three-phase AC charger sets a useful ceiling, but the real-world speed at home is almost always determined by the power supply rather than the car or cable. A standard UK single-phase home wallbox delivers a maximum of 7.4kW: the same figure whether you use a 7.4kW or 22kW cable. For RZ owners on a typical domestic setup, the 7.4kW Type 2 cable does the job fully and saves money over the more expensive three-phase option.

Where a 22kW cable becomes relevant is at three-phase AC charge points, which you will find at some destinations, leisure venues, and a growing number of public car parks. At those locations the RZ draws its full 11kW, cutting charge time by a third compared with single-phase. If those points are part of your regular routine, a 22kW cable is worth having. For most owners, though, the car charges at home overnight and the single-phase 7.4kW cable is perfectly matched to daily life.

What does it cost to charge?

A full charge on the 71.4kWh battery costs roughly £5 to £6 on an off-peak EV tariff at around 7.5p per kWh, and around £19 on a standard domestic rate of around 27p. For an executive-grade SUV the running cost is notably low compared with a petrol equivalent. Public rapid charging at typical UK rates of 45p to 80p per kWh is considerably more expensive and is best kept for longer journeys. Tariffs change regularly; check current pricing with your supplier.

Contact us
What charging cable does the Lexus RZ need?+

The Lexus RZ has a Type 2 inlet, so it needs a Type 2 to Type 2 cable for UK home and public charging. It charges on up to three-phase AC at up to 11kW.

Can the Lexus RZ charge at 22kW?+

Yes, the Lexus RZ has a three-phase onboard charger, so with a 22kW cable and a three-phase supply it can charge at up to 11kW.

What length charging cable should I get?+

5m suits most home and public charge points. Choose 7.5m or 10m if the charge point is far from your car's charging port or you park on the far side of a bay.

What cable does the Lexus RZ need for home charging?+

A Type 2 to Type 2 cable, which works with every UK home wallbox and the vast majority of public AC charge points. The RZ uses the Type 2 inlet across all trim levels. A 5m cable suits most driveways. On a single-phase home supply, 7.4kW is the maximum speed regardless of cable rating.

Does the Lexus RZ charge at 11kW or 22kW?+

The RZ has an 11kW three-phase onboard AC charger. It cannot charge faster than 11kW on AC. To reach 11kW you need three-phase power: either a three-phase home supply or a public AC charge point rated at 11kW or above. On a standard single-phase UK home wallbox the maximum is 7.4kW.

How long does the Lexus RZ take to charge from empty?+

On a 7.4kW single-phase wallbox, the 71.4kWh battery takes around 10 hours from empty to full. On a three-phase 11kW wallbox, that reduces to roughly 7 hours. Either way, the RZ is well suited to overnight charging. A 3-pin socket would take around 31 hours and is not practical for routine use.

Is the Lexus RZ a good car for long motorway journeys?+

With a 71.4kWh battery and up to 150kW CCS rapid charging, the RZ handles longer trips reasonably well, though 150kW is toward the slower end of modern rapid-charging speeds. DC charging uses the rapid charger's own tethered cable: your Type 2 lead is only for AC sessions. Preconditioning the battery before arriving at a rapid charger helps maintain peak DC speed in cold weather.
