Lexus UX300e
Charging cable
Full AC charging speed for your car.
Why this fits your UX300e+−
The Lexus UX300e has a Type 2 inlet and a single-phase 6.6kW onboard charger. A 7.4kW cable already delivers its full AC speed. The 22kW option only helps if your next car charges faster.
Which Lexus UX300e versions does it fit?+
This cable fits every Lexus UX300e, because they all share the same Type 2 charging inlet. That includes:
- Lexus UX300e Urban
- Lexus UX300e Takumi
- Lexus UX300e Premium
- Lexus UX300e Premium Plus
- Lexus UX300e Premium Plus Tech
Whichever UX300e trim you drive, it is the same cable, so you can order with confidence.

How long does it take?
Charging
the Lexus UX300e.
The Lexus UX300e is Lexus's compact electric SUV, on sale in the UK since 2020 and updated in 2023 with a larger 72.8kWh battery. Early models used a 54.3kWh pack. Across all variants the UX300e charges on AC via a Type 2 inlet, rated at 6.6kW single-phase. For DC rapid charging, it uses a CHAdeMO port rather than the more common CCS, which means it works on CHAdeMO-equipped rapid chargers rather than the CCS rapid points that now dominate the UK network.
For home and public AC charging, the cable you bring is a Type 2 to Type 2 lead. The CHAdeMO DC port is a tethered cable on the rapid charger itself, not one you carry. The UX300e's 6.6kW onboard AC charger is the relevant figure for day-to-day charging, and no cable, regardless of its rating, can exceed that on this car.
The 2023 update brought a larger 72.8kWh battery for improved range; DC rapid charging is via CHAdeMO on all versions. Rapid (DC) times are for a 10 to 80% charge, the way manufacturers quote them. Real-world charging varies with temperature, battery state and the charger itself.
7.4 kW or 22 kW?
Which cable does
the UX300e need?
The UX300e's onboard AC charger is limited to 6.6kW single-phase, which sits below the 7.4kW output of a typical UK home wallbox. A 7.4kW Type 2 cable is the right choice: the car is already charging at its maximum AC rate, and a higher-rated cable would bring no speed benefit at all.
The CHAdeMO rapid port is a separate matter. CHAdeMO tethered cables are found on some rapid chargers, although CCS is now far more common in the UK, so it is worth checking charger network apps for CHAdeMO availability when planning longer trips. For your home Type 2 cable, a 5m lead is fine for most driveways; consider a 7m cable if there is a longer run between your wallbox and where you park.
What does it cost to charge?
Charging the 72.8kWh battery from empty on an off-peak EV tariff of around 7.5p per kWh costs roughly £5.50. At a standard rate of around 27p per kWh the same fill costs around £20. For the earlier 54.3kWh pack those figures drop to around £4 and £15 respectively. Overnight charging on a dedicated EV tariff is the most economical route, keeping the UX300e topped up for a modest daily outlay. Tariffs shift, so check current rates with your supplier.

Lexus UX300e FAQs
Good
questions.
Still not sure? Our team will confirm the right cable for your vehicle.
Contact usCan the Lexus UX300e charge at 22kW?+−
No, the Lexus UX300e has a single-phase onboard charger limited to 6.6kW, so a 7.4kW cable already delivers its full AC speed. A 22kW cable would only benefit a future car.
What length charging cable should I get?+−
5m suits most home and public charge points. Choose 7.5m or 10m if the charge point is far from your car's charging port or you park on the far side of a bay.
What charging cable does the Lexus UX300e need?+−
A Type 2 to Type 2 cable for AC charging at home wallboxes and public AC points. The UX300e also has a CHAdeMO port for DC rapid charging, but that uses the charger's own tethered cable. For the AC inlet, a 7.4kW Type 2 lead is the practical choice, as the car's onboard charger is rated at 6.6kW.
Does the Lexus UX300e use CCS or CHAdeMO for rapid charging?+−
CHAdeMO. The UX300e uses a CHAdeMO rapid charging port, not CCS, which is the more common rapid standard in the UK. CHAdeMO rapid chargers are available but are becoming less widespread, so it is worth checking charger availability on the route when planning longer journeys. The DC tethered cable is provided by the charger, not something you carry.
How long does the Lexus UX300e take to charge at home?+−
On a 7.4kW wallbox the 72.8kWh version takes around 11 to 12 hours from empty to full, limited by the car's 6.6kW charger. The earlier 54.3kWh model takes around 8 to 9 hours. Either way an overnight charge is sufficient. On a standard 3-pin socket charging takes much longer and is best used only as a backup.
What length cable do I need for the Lexus UX300e?+−
A 5m cable is the starting point for home use. If the wallbox is positioned some distance from where the car parks, or you need to route the cable around obstacles, a 7m lead gives more comfortable reach. Choosing a length with a bit of slack is better than repeatedly stretching the cable tight, which wears connectors prematurely.
