Why this fits your Eletre+

The Lotus Eletre has a Type 2 inlet and a three-phase 22kW onboard charger. The 22kW cable carries its full 22kW on three-phase chargers. A 7.4kW cable would cap it. On a single-phase home wallbox both cables charge at the same 7.4kW.

Which Lotus Eletre versions does it fit?+

This cable fits every Lotus Eletre, because they all share the same Type 2 charging inlet. That includes:

  • Lotus Eletre R
  • Lotus Eletre S
  • Lotus Eletre GT
  • Lotus Eletre Le
  • Lotus Eletre GT SE
  • Lotus Eletre Sport

Whichever Eletre trim you drive, it is the same cable, so you can order with confidence.

How long does it take?

Charging
the Lotus Eletre.

The Lotus Eletre is a large five-door electric SUV built on an 800V platform, on sale in the UK from 2023. It carries a substantial 112kWh gross battery and is available across a range of trims including GT, S, R, Sport, and GT SE. On the DC side the Eletre supports rapid charging at up to 350kW, placing it among the fastest-charging electric vehicles available. For AC charging, the Eletre is one of the few UK-market cars to offer a 22kW three-phase onboard charger as standard, via a Type 2 inlet.

At home or at a public AC point, the cable you bring is a Type 2 to Type 2 lead. The 22kW AC capability is a meaningful feature, but it only delivers that rate on a three-phase supply or a 22kW public AC charger. The vast majority of UK homes are single-phase, capping AC charging at 7.4kW regardless of the cable or the car's onboard charger rating. Rapid DC charging at up to 350kW is handled by the charger's own tethered cable.

7.4 kW or 22 kW?

Which cable does
the Eletre need?

The Eletre's 22kW three-phase onboard charger is genuinely useful if your supply can support it. At a 22kW public AC charger, the Eletre will draw its full 22kW, giving around 5 hours to fill the 112kWh pack, which is well suited to destination charging at hotels or car parks with three-phase posts. In those circumstances, a 22kW rated Type 2 cable is the right tool, since a 7.4kW cable would limit the charge rate even on a three-phase supply.

That said, at a standard single-phase UK home wallbox the Eletre charges at 7.4kW regardless of cable rating, so a 7.4kW lead is perfectly adequate for home charging and costs less. The practical decision is whether you regularly use 22kW public AC chargers: if you do, the 22kW cable earns its keep; if home charging is the main use case, the 7.4kW cable does the same job on the driveway.

What does it cost to charge?

Filling the 112kWh battery from empty on an off-peak EV tariff of around 7.5p per kWh costs roughly £8 to £9. At a standard rate of around 27p per kWh the same fill costs around £30. In practice most owners charge from partially depleted rather than empty, which keeps the daily cost well below those figures. Public rapid charging is considerably dearer per kWh, but the Eletre's fast DC capability means stops are brief. Check your current tariff, as rates vary.

Good
questions.

Contact us
Can the Lotus Eletre charge at 22kW?+

Yes, the Lotus Eletre has a three-phase onboard charger, so with a 22kW cable and a three-phase supply it can charge at up to 22kW.

What length charging cable should I get?+

5m suits most home and public charge points. Choose 7.5m or 10m if the charge point is far from your car's charging port or you park on the far side of a bay.

Does the Lotus Eletre charge at 22kW?+

Yes, the Eletre has a 22kW three-phase AC onboard charger as standard. It will draw up to 22kW at a compatible three-phase supply, such as many 22kW public AC charge points. At a typical single-phase UK home wallbox the rate is capped at 7.4kW regardless of the car's capability. A 22kW cable is needed to access the full 22kW on a three-phase supply.

What charging cable does the Lotus Eletre need?+

A Type 2 to Type 2 cable for AC charging. The Eletre supports up to 22kW on three-phase AC, so a 22kW rated cable is the right choice if you regularly use 22kW public AC chargers. For home charging on a standard single-phase wallbox, a 7.4kW cable delivers the same 7.4kW and costs less. DC rapid charging uses the charger's own tethered lead.

How long does the Lotus Eletre take to charge?+

At a 22kW three-phase AC charge point, the 112kWh battery takes around 5 to 6 hours from low to full. On a 7.4kW single-phase home wallbox that extends to around 15 hours from empty, making overnight charging the norm at home. At a DC rapid charger the Eletre accepts up to 350kW, making short top-ups realistic on longer journeys.

What length cable do I need for the Lotus Eletre?+

A 5m cable suits most home and destination charging scenarios. Given the Eletre's size, the charging port may sit further from a wallbox than on a smaller car depending on how you park, so a 7m cable can be a practical choice. Avoid over-stretching any cable regularly, and choose the length that lets the lead lie comfortably without tension.
