Charging guide
Charging
your Lucid.
Lucid's UK range is the Air, a luxury electric saloon. It charges through a Type 2 inlet, so it takes a Type 2 to Type 2 cable for home and public AC charging, and uses a CCS port for rapid DC.
The Air stands out for a fast 22kW three-phase onboard AC charger, which is unusually quick on AC. Whether that extra speed is usable depends on your supply, as explained below. Pick the Air below for its exact charging times, or read the guidance underneath.
What charging cable does a Lucid need?
The Lucid Air uses a Type 2 inlet, so you need a Type 2 to Type 2 cable. A 5m length suits most driveways, with 7m or 10m for on-street parking or a wallbox set back from the car. No Lucid needs a Type 1 cable.
The Air has a 22kW three-phase onboard charger, one of the fastest on AC. The catch is that almost all UK homes are single-phase, which caps home charging at 7.4kW no matter what cable you use. A 22kW rated cable is only worth it if you have a three-phase supply or use 22kW public AC points, where the Air can genuinely pull its full 22kW. On a standard single-phase home a 7.4kW cable gives you everything the supply can deliver.

Contact usWhat charging cable does the Lucid Air need?+−
A Type 2 to Type 2 cable, 5m for most driveways. The Air has a 22kW three-phase onboard charger, so it can use a 22kW cable on a three-phase supply, but on a single-phase home a 7.4kW cable gives the full speed available.
Can the Lucid Air charge at 22kW?+−
Yes, on AC it can, because it has a 22kW three-phase onboard charger. That full speed only arrives on a three-phase supply or a 22kW public AC point, though. On a standard single-phase home the Air charges at 7.4kW.
Is a 22kW cable worth it for the Lucid Air?+−
Only if you have three-phase power or regularly use 22kW public AC points, where the Air uses the full 22kW. On a single-phase home a 22kW cable charges at exactly the same 7.4kW as a cheaper cable, so it buys nothing extra there.
Does the Lucid Air use Type 1 or Type 2?+−
Type 2 for AC charging, with a CCS port for rapid DC. It does not need a Type 1 cable, so a Type 2 to Type 2 lead is the one to buy.
What length cable do I need for the Lucid Air?+−
5m suits most home wallboxes and public charge points. Step up to 7m or 10m if you park on the street or your wallbox sits far from the car's charging port. Buy the shortest length that reaches comfortably.
