Why this fits your eDeliver 5+

The Maxus eDeliver 5 has a Type 2 inlet and a three-phase 11kW onboard charger. The 22kW cable carries its full 11kW on three-phase chargers. A 7.4kW cable would cap it. On a single-phase home wallbox both cables charge at the same 7.4kW.

Charging
the Maxus eDeliver 5.

The Maxus eDeliver 5 is a mid-size electric panel van, launched in the UK in 2024 and aimed at trades, couriers, and businesses replacing medium diesel vans. It carries a 64kWh LFP battery and uses a Type 2 inlet for AC charging alongside a CCS port for DC rapid charging up to approximately 90kW. The cable you supply for home and depot AC sessions is a Type 2 to Type 2 lead.

The eDeliver 5's onboard AC charger is rated at 11kW on three phases. On a standard UK single-phase home or depot supply, AC charging is capped at 7.4kW. DC rapid charging at up to around 90kW (which can bring the battery from 20% to 80% in approximately 45 minutes) uses the station's own tethered cable.

Standard single-phase supplies cap AC charging at 7.4kW. Three-phase depot chargers unlock the full 11kW. Rapid (DC) times are for a 10 to 80% charge, the way manufacturers quote them. Real-world charging varies with temperature, battery state and the charger itself.

7.4 kW or 22 kW?

Which cable does
the eDeliver 5 need?

For home or single-phase depot charging, the eDeliver 5's AC speed is capped at 7.4kW on a standard UK supply, regardless of the cable's power rating. A 7.4kW Type 2 to Type 2 cable matches this and is the practical choice for most operators. There is no speed benefit from a 22kW cable on a single-phase supply.

Operators with three-phase power at a depot will find the eDeliver 5 can draw closer to its full 11kW from a three-phase charger, making a 22kW cable worthwhile in that environment. For van fleets, a longer cable is often more practical: a 7m or 10m lead gives drivers flexibility to reach the charging inlet from fixed charging posts without repositioning the van.

What does it cost to charge?

Charging the 64kWh LFP battery from empty costs roughly £5 on an off-peak EV tariff of around 7.5p per kWh, or around £17 at a standard rate of roughly 27p. For businesses running the eDeliver 5 on daily routes, overnight depot or home charging on a managed tariff gives the lowest running cost. Public rapid charging at higher per-kWh rates is best kept for unexpected range top-ups. Check current tariffs.

Contact us
What charging cable does the Maxus eDeliver 5 need?+

The Maxus eDeliver 5 has a Type 2 inlet, so it needs a Type 2 to Type 2 cable for UK home and public charging. It charges on up to three-phase AC at up to 11kW.

What length charging cable should I get?+

5m suits most home and public charge points. Choose 7.5m or 10m if the charge point is far from your car's charging port or you park on the far side of a bay.

What cable does the Maxus eDeliver 5 need?+

A Type 2 to Type 2 cable for all AC charging. The eDeliver 5 has an 11kW three-phase onboard charger. On a standard UK single-phase supply, charging is capped at 7.4kW. A 7.4kW cable covers this for home or single-phase depot use; a 22kW cable is beneficial only on three-phase depot chargers.

Can the Maxus eDeliver 5 charge at 22kW?+

No. The onboard AC charger is rated at 11kW, so 22kW is not possible regardless of the cable or charger. On a three-phase supply with a suitable cable it can charge at up to 11kW. On a standard UK single-phase supply it is limited to 7.4kW.

How long does the Maxus eDeliver 5 take to charge?+

On a 7.4kW single-phase wallbox, the 64kWh LFP battery takes around 9 hours from empty, which covers an overnight depot charge comfortably. On a three-phase 11kW charger it takes around 6 hours. DC rapid charging at up to approximately 90kW is faster and uses the charger's own tethered cable.

What length cable do I need for the Maxus eDeliver 5?+

A 5m cable suits home driveways and simple single-vehicle setups. For depot use, where charging posts are fixed and vans need to connect from varying positions, a 7m or 10m cable is more practical and reduces the need to shuffle parking positions to get the inlet close to the charger.
