Why this fits your 6e+

The Mazda 6e has a Type 2 inlet and a three-phase 11kW onboard charger. The 22kW cable carries its full 11kW on three-phase chargers. A 7.4kW cable would cap it. On a single-phase home wallbox both cables charge at the same 7.4kW.

Which Mazda 6e versions does it fit?+

This cable fits every Mazda 6e, because they all share the same Type 2 charging inlet. That includes:

  • Mazda 6e Takumi
  • Mazda 6e 68.8kWh
  • Mazda 6e Takumi Plus
  • Mazda 6e Long Range 80 kWh

Whichever 6e trim you drive, it is the same cable, so you can order with confidence.

How long does it take?

Charging
the Mazda 6e.

The Mazda 6e is a fully electric saloon that arrived in the UK in summer 2026, marking Mazda's first purpose-built BEV in a traditional saloon body. UK models use a 78kWh lithium iron phosphate battery, with Mazda quoting a 10 to 80 per cent DC charge in around 24 minutes at its peak rate of approximately 195kW. The AC inlet is a standard Type 2 socket, with a CCS port alongside it for rapid DC charging at public fast chargers.

For home charging, workplace AC points, and slower public chargers, the cable you bring is a Type 2 to Type 2 lead. The Mazda 6e's onboard AC charger accepts up to 11kW on three phases, which puts it firmly in the faster end of the home-charging spectrum. DC rapid charging uses the station's own tethered CCS cable and is independent of anything you purchase.

7.4 kW or 22 kW?

Which cable does
the 6e need?

The Mazda 6e supports 11kW AC on a three-phase supply, which means the cable rating makes a real difference if you have access to a three-phase wallbox or 22kW public AC charger. A 22kW rated Type 2 to Type 2 cable lets the car draw its full 11kW in those environments, keeping AC top-up times as short as possible.

If your home charger is single-phase (as most UK home wallboxes are), the 6e is limited to 7.4kW regardless of cable rating, and a standard 7.4kW cable is all you need for home use. The 22kW cable only earns its extra cost if you regularly use three-phase AC charge points at work or on the road. For a new car like this, many owners opt for the 22kW cable upfront to keep options open.

What does it cost to charge?

Charging the 78kWh battery from empty costs roughly £6 on an off-peak tariff of around 7.5p per kWh, and around £21 on a standard rate of roughly 27p. Overnight charging on a smart tariff keeps running costs very competitive for a car of this size and range. Public rapid charging at 195kW is impressively fast but charged at network rates that are typically many times higher than home overnight prices. Check current tariffs, as they change frequently.

Contact us
Can the Mazda 6e charge at 22kW?+

Yes, the Mazda 6e has a three-phase onboard charger, so with a 22kW cable and a three-phase supply it can charge at up to 11kW.

What length charging cable should I get?+

5m suits most home and public charge points. Choose 7.5m or 10m if the charge point is far from your car's charging port or you park on the far side of a bay.

What charging cable does the Mazda 6e need?+

A Type 2 to Type 2 cable. The Mazda 6e has a standard Type 2 AC inlet and is compatible with any Type 2 lead. A 7.4kW cable covers home single-phase charging. If you have access to three-phase charge points at work or on the road, choose a 22kW cable to allow the car to charge at its full 11kW rate.

Can the Mazda 6e charge at 11kW?+

Yes, on a three-phase supply. The onboard AC charger supports 11kW across three phases. Most UK home wallboxes are single-phase, capping AC charging at 7.4kW at home. Workplace or public three-phase chargers rated at 11kW or 22kW allow the car to reach its maximum AC rate of 11kW.

How long does the Mazda 6e take to charge at home?+

On a 7.4kW single-phase home wallbox, the 78kWh battery takes around 10.5 to 11 hours from empty. On a three-phase 11kW wallbox, that drops to roughly 7 hours. The car's 195kW DC capability means a rapid public top-up from 10 to 80 per cent takes around 24 minutes, which suits longer journeys well.

Is the Mazda 6e compatible with rapid chargers?+

Yes. The Mazda 6e has a CCS inlet for DC rapid charging at up to approximately 195kW. At public rapid chargers, the station provides its own tethered CCS cable, so you do not need to buy a DC cable. The Type 2 cable you carry is used only for AC charging at wallboxes and slower public charge posts.
