Omoda 7 SHS
Charging cable
Full AC charging speed for your car.
Why this fits your 7 SHS+−
The Omoda 7 SHS has a Type 2 inlet and a single-phase 6.6kW onboard charger. A 7.4kW cable already delivers its full AC speed. The 22kW option only helps if your next car charges faster.

Charging
the Omoda 7 SHS.
The Omoda 7 SHS is a mid-size SUV from Chery's Omoda brand, introduced to the UK market from 2025 as a plug-in hybrid using the SHS-P powertrain. Its 18.3kWh battery gives a useful electric range for daily commuting, and the SUV form factor makes it a practical family car. AC charging is via a standard Type 2 inlet, so the same cable that works at your home wallbox also works at public AC points across the UK.
For AC charging, the 7 SHS supports up to 6.6kW on a single-phase supply. It can also fast-charge on DC at up to around 40kW using the charger's own tethered CCS cable, reaching 30 to 80 per cent in roughly 20 minutes. The cable you buy covers home and public AC charging only; DC rapid charging uses its own tethered cable at the charger.
Estimates based on battery size and charge power. Rapid (DC) times are for a 10 to 80% charge, the way manufacturers quote them. Real-world charging varies with temperature, battery state and the charger itself.
7.4 kW or 22 kW?
Which cable does
the 7 SHS need?
The Omoda 7 SHS charges at up to 6.6kW on AC, which is comfortably within what a standard UK home wallbox provides on a single-phase supply. A 7.4kW Type 2 to Type 2 cable is the right choice for most owners: it covers both home wallboxes and public AC points, and a 5m length suits the majority of driveways.
Because the car's onboard charger is rated below 7.4kW, there is no point in buying a more expensive 22kW three-phase cable. Even on a three-phase public charger, the 7 SHS will not draw more than its onboard 6.6kW maximum. Stick with a 7.4kW cable and save the extra cost.
What does it cost to charge?
Filling the 18.3kWh battery from empty costs roughly £1 to £1.50 on a dedicated off-peak EV tariff of around 7.5p per kWh, and around £5 on a standard rate of around 27p per kWh. If you charge regularly at home overnight, the daily running cost of keeping the battery topped up is very low. Check current tariff rates, as energy prices change.

Omoda 7 SHS FAQs
Good
questions.
Still not sure? Our team will confirm the right cable for your vehicle.
Contact usWhat length charging cable should I get?+−
5m suits most home and public charge points. Choose 7.5m or 10m if the charge point is far from your car's charging port or you park on the far side of a bay.
What charging cable does the Omoda 7 SHS need?+−
A Type 2 to Type 2 cable for home wallboxes and public AC points. The 7 SHS has a standard Type 2 inlet and draws up to 6.6kW on AC. A 7.4kW cable covers this fully. A 5m length suits most driveways, though 7m or 10m may help if your wallbox is positioned away from where you park.
Can the Omoda 7 SHS charge at 22kW?+−
No. The onboard AC charger is rated at 6.6kW, so the car cannot charge faster than that on AC regardless of the cable or charger used. A 22kW cable would deliver no extra speed. Use a standard 7.4kW Type 2 cable instead.
How long does the Omoda 7 SHS take to charge at home?+−
On a 7.4kW home wallbox, the 18.3kWh battery takes around three hours from empty to full. A 3-pin household socket is much slower at roughly six hours, so a wallbox is preferable. DC fast charging at up to 40kW is done at public rapid chargers using their own tethered cable.
What length cable do I need for the Omoda 7 SHS?+−
A 5m cable is sufficient for most home setups. If your wallbox is positioned at a distance from the vehicle, or the charging port ends up on the far side of the car relative to the socket, choose a 7m or 10m lead to reach comfortably without straining the connection.
