Charge speeds
Across the Omoda range.
Every Omoda here uses a Type 2 inlet, so one Type 2 to Type 2 cable fits the range. On-board AC charging ranges from about 6.6kW to 9.9kW depending on the model. A cable never charges faster than your car's on-board charger or your home supply allows, so on a standard single-phase UK home a 7.4 kW cable gives the full speed available.
Speeds are on-board AC limits. Rapid DC uses the station's own cable.
Charging guide
Charging
your Omoda.
Omoda's UK line-up spans one full battery-electric car and two plug-in hybrids: the E5 BEV, the 7 SHS PHEV, and the 9 SHS PHEV. All three use a Type 2 inlet, so they all take a Type 2 to Type 2 cable for home and public AC charging. The E5 has a three-phase onboard charger rated at 9.9kW, while the 7 SHS and 9 SHS are single-phase PHEVs that charge at 6.6kW.
The difference in AC charging speed means the cable choice is slightly different depending on the model, though all three use the same connector. Pick your model below for its exact recommended cable and charge times, or read the brand-wide guidance underneath.
What charging cable does a Omoda need?
Every Omoda model uses a Type 2 inlet, so the cable you need is a Type 2 to Type 2. A 5m length is right for most driveways and public charge points; choose 7m or 10m if you park on the street or if the wallbox sits a good distance from where the car's inlet falls.
The Omoda E5 has a 9.9kW three-phase onboard charger. Most UK homes are single-phase, which caps AC charging at 7.4kW regardless of cable rating. On a single-phase home wallbox the E5 charges at 7.4kW, so a 7.4kW cable gives the full speed the supply can provide. A 22kW cable is not needed here: even on a three-phase supply the E5 will only draw up to 9.9kW, so there is no reason to pay for a 22kW cable.
The 7 SHS and 9 SHS are plug-in hybrids that charge at 6.6kW on a single phase. A 7.4kW cable is already more than either can draw, so there is no benefit in buying a higher-rated cable for these models. In short, a single 5m 7.4kW Type 2 cable suits the entire Omoda range.

Contact usDo all Omoda models use a Type 2 charging cable?+−
Yes. The E5, 7 SHS, and 9 SHS all have a Type 2 inlet. Every current Omoda takes a Type 2 to Type 2 cable for home and public AC charging. No Omoda model needs a Type 1 cable.
What charging cable does the Omoda E5 need?+−
A Type 2 to Type 2 cable. The E5 has a 9.9kW three-phase onboard charger. On a standard single-phase home supply it charges at 7.4kW, so a 7.4kW cable delivers the full home speed. Even on a three-phase supply the E5 reaches a maximum of 9.9kW, so a 22kW cable is not required for this model.
What cable does the Omoda 7 SHS or 9 SHS PHEV need?+−
A Type 2 to Type 2 cable. Both PHEVs charge at up to 6.6kW on a single phase, so a standard 7.4kW cable is more than enough. Their smaller batteries also take well to overnight charging on a 3-pin granny charger if you want to keep the Type 2 cable for public points.
Can an Omoda charge at 22kW AC?+−
No Omoda model charges at 22kW on AC. The E5's onboard charger tops out at 9.9kW on three phases, and the 7 SHS and 9 SHS PHEVs are limited to 6.6kW on a single phase. A 7.4kW cable covers all everyday charging needs across the Omoda range.
What length cable do I need for my Omoda?+−
5m is the right starting point for most home wallboxes and public charge points. If you park on the street, share a charger, or your wallbox is far from where the car sits, 7m or 10m gives more comfortable reach. Buy the shortest cable that reaches easily to keep it manageable.
