Why this fits your 3008 PHEV+

The Peugeot 3008 PHEV has a Type 2 inlet and a single-phase 3.7kW onboard charger. A 7.4kW cable already delivers its full AC speed. The 22kW option only helps if your next car charges faster.

How long does it take?

Charging
the Peugeot 3008 PHEV.

The Peugeot 3008 PHEV is the second-generation plug-in hybrid version of Peugeot's popular family SUV, sold in the UK from 2019 to 2023 before the fully electric e-3008 took over. It carries a 13.2kWh battery, giving around 30 to 40 miles of electric range under ideal conditions. Charging is via a standard Type 2 inlet for AC, so the cable you carry is a Type 2 to Type 2 lead compatible with home wallboxes and public AC points. There is no DC rapid charging capability on this model.

The standard onboard AC charger on the 3008 PHEV is rated at 3.7kW, though some cars were ordered with an optional 7.4kW charger. Check your car's documentation to confirm which charger your car has. Either way, the inlet is Type 2 and the cable is the same; only the charging speed differs.

7.4 kW or 22 kW?

Which cable does
the 3008 PHEV need?

Most 3008 PHEVs have the 3.7kW onboard charger, which means even a standard 7.4kW cable is drawing on only half its rated capacity. Charging at 3.7kW, the 13.2kWh battery takes around three and a half hours from empty. If your car has the optional 7.4kW charger, the same cable then delivers the full home wallbox speed and the charge time halves to around two hours.

There is no reason to consider a 22kW three-phase cable for the 3008 PHEV. The car's maximum AC rate is 7.4kW at most, so the extra cost of a three-phase cable buys nothing. A standard 7.4kW Type 2 to Type 2 cable at 5m covers every home and public AC scenario this car will encounter.

What does it cost to charge?

Filling the 13.2kWh battery from empty costs roughly £1 on an off-peak EV tariff of around 7.5p per kWh, and around £3.50 at a standard rate near 27p per kWh. Because the battery is relatively small, topping up after each day's driving is quick and inexpensive. Check current tariff rates, as energy prices vary.

Contact us
What charging cable does the Peugeot 3008 PHEV need?+

The Peugeot 3008 PHEV has a Type 2 inlet, so it needs a Type 2 to Type 2 cable for UK home and public charging. It charges on single-phase AC at up to 3.7kW.

Can the Peugeot 3008 PHEV charge at 22kW?+

No, the Peugeot 3008 PHEV has a single-phase onboard charger limited to 3.7kW, so a 7.4kW cable already delivers its full AC speed. A 22kW cable would only benefit a future car.

What length charging cable should I get?+

5m suits most home and public charge points. Choose 7.5m or 10m if the charge point is far from your car's charging port or you park on the far side of a bay.

What cable does the Peugeot 3008 PHEV need?+

A Type 2 to Type 2 cable. Most 3008 PHEVs have a 3.7kW onboard charger, though the 7.4kW option was available. Either way the inlet is Type 2 and a 7.4kW cable covers both versions. There is no DC rapid charging on this model.

How long does the Peugeot 3008 PHEV take to charge?+

With the standard 3.7kW charger, the 13.2kWh battery takes around three to three and a half hours from empty. If the optional 7.4kW charger was fitted, charge time drops to roughly two hours. Either way, plugging in each evening is quick and straightforward.

Can the Peugeot 3008 PHEV use rapid charging?+

No. The 3008 PHEV supports AC charging only, with no CCS or CHAdeMO DC port. It charges at home or on public AC points up to 7.4kW if the optional charger was fitted, or 3.7kW with the standard charger.

What length cable do I need for the Peugeot 3008 PHEV?+

A 5m cable is sufficient for most driveways and home setups. If your wallbox is further from where you park, or you want extra reach at public charging bays, a 7m cable gives useful additional length without being unwieldy.
