Charge speeds
Across the Peugeot range.
Peugeot spans both eras: 2 models use Type 1 and the rest use Type 2, so check your car before you buy. On-board AC charging ranges from about 3.5kW to 11kW depending on the model. A cable never charges faster than your car's on-board charger or your home supply allows, so on a standard single-phase UK home a 7.4 kW cable gives the full speed available.
Speeds are on-board AC limits. Rapid DC uses the station's own cable.

Charging guide
Charging
your Peugeot.
Peugeot's electrified range covers everything from city cars to large vans, including the e-208, e-2008, e-308, e-3008, e-5008, e-Rifter, e-Expert, and e-Boxer, alongside plug-in hybrids like the 308 PHEV, 3008 PHEV, and 508 PHEV. The vast majority use a Type 2 inlet, so one cable covers most of the range. The exceptions are the older Partner Electric and the iOn, both of which have a Type 1 inlet and need a Type 2 to Type 1 cable instead.
How fast each Peugeot charges on AC depends on its onboard charger, and that varies a lot across the range, from around 3.7kW on the older PHEVs up to 11kW on the newer BEVs. That difference decides whether a standard 7.4kW cable is enough or whether a three-phase cable is worth considering. Pick your model below to see its exact cable recommendation and charge times, or read the brand-wide guidance underneath.
What charging cable does a Peugeot need?
For the majority of Peugeot models, you need a Type 2 to Type 2 cable. A 5m length suits most driveways and wallboxes; step up to 7m or 10m if you park on the street or your charge point sits far from the car's port. Only the older Partner Electric and the iOn require a Type 2 to Type 1 cable, so always confirm your model before buying.
Several newer Peugeot BEVs, including the e-208, e-2008, e-308, e-3008, and e-5008, have an 11kW three-phase onboard charger. Most UK homes are single-phase, which caps home charging at 7.4kW regardless of the cable, so for most owners a 7.4kW cable already delivers the full speed the supply can provide. A 22kW cable is only worth the extra cost if you have a three-phase supply or regularly use 22kW public AC points, where those cars will pull their full 11kW.
The plug-in hybrids in the range, such as the 308 PHEV, 3008 PHEV, and 508 PHEV, charge at around 3.7kW on AC, which means a standard 7.4kW cable is more than adequate. Their smaller batteries also make a 3-pin granny charger a practical overnight option. In short, a single 5m 7.4kW Type 2 cable suits all current Peugeot models except the older Partner Electric and iOn, which need a Type 1 cable.

Contact usDo all Peugeots use a Type 2 charging cable?+−
Most do, but not all. The older Partner Electric and the iOn both have a Type 1 inlet and require a Type 2 to Type 1 cable. Every other current Peugeot EV and plug-in hybrid uses a Type 2 inlet, so check your specific model before buying.
What charging cable does a Peugeot e-208 or e-3008 need?+−
A Type 2 to Type 2 cable, 5m for most home setups. Both have an 11kW three-phase onboard charger, but on a standard single-phase home supply they charge at 7.4kW. A 7.4kW cable gives the full speed available at home; only upgrade to a 22kW cable if you use three-phase public AC points regularly.
Can a Peugeot charge at 22kW?+−
No Peugeot charges at 22kW on AC. The newer BEVs such as the e-208, e-308, and e-3008 top out at 11kW on a three-phase supply, and the PHEVs are lower still. On a typical single-phase home wallbox every Peugeot charges at 7.4kW or less.
What cable does the Peugeot iOn or older Partner Electric need?+−
Both the iOn and the Partner Electric have a Type 1 inlet, so they need a Type 2 to Type 1 cable. They charge at around 3.5 to 3.7kW on AC, so a standard 7.4kW Type 2 to Type 1 cable is more than sufficient for either car.
What length cable do I need for my Peugeot?+−
5m suits most home wallboxes and public charge points. Go for 7m or 10m if you park on the street, share a charger, or your wallbox is positioned far from the car. Longer cables weigh more and take longer to coil, so buy the shortest length that reaches comfortably.
