Peugeot e-308
Charging cable
Charges about 50% faster on 22 kW public posts than a 7.4 kW cable.
Why this fits your e-308+−
The Peugeot e-308 has a Type 2 inlet and a three-phase 11kW onboard charger. The 22kW cable carries its full 11kW on three-phase chargers. A 7.4kW cable would cap it. On a single-phase home wallbox both cables charge at the same 7.4kW.

How long does it take?
Charging
the Peugeot e-308.
The Peugeot e-308 is a fully electric C-segment hatchback, launched in the UK in 2023 alongside an estate version, the e-308 SW. Both body styles share the same 54kWh battery (around 51kWh usable) and identical charging hardware. The e-308 uses a Type 2 AC inlet and a CCS rapid port, and the cable you bring to a home wallbox or public AC charge point is a Type 2 to Type 2 lead. It is based on the same Stellantis platform as the Vauxhall Astra Electric and DS 4 E-Tense.
All UK e-308 variants come standard with an 11kW three-phase onboard AC charger. On the DC side the car accepts up to 100kW, again using the rapid charger's own tethered CCS cable. With a battery roughly the same size as a Volkswagen Golf electric, the e-308 covers typical UK family driving well, and the 11kW AC charger is a competitive specification in this class.
Hatchback and SW estate share the same 54kWh battery and charging speeds. The 11kW AC charger is standard across all UK trims. Rapid (DC) times are for a 10 to 80% charge, the way manufacturers quote them. Real-world charging varies with temperature, battery state and the charger itself.
7.4 kW or 22 kW?
Which cable does
the e-308 need?
The e-308's 11kW charger runs on three phases, but the starting point for most UK buyers is the supply at home. Single-phase power, which is what nearly every UK home wallbox provides, limits charging to 7.4kW regardless of what cable or charger rating is in use. At 7.4kW, the e-308's 54kWh battery takes around 7 hours from empty: comfortable for an overnight charge and perfectly timed for a morning start. A 7.4kW Type 2 cable gives every bit of that speed and is the practical recommendation for home use.
If your situation includes a three-phase supply at home (found in some newer builds, rural properties, and business premises) or regular parking at 11kW or 22kW public AC charge points, a 22kW rated cable is worthwhile. At those three-phase locations the e-308 charges at its full 11kW, bringing charge time down to around 5 hours. On any single-phase connection the cable rating does not affect charge speed, and the 7.4kW option remains the better buy.
What does it cost to charge?
Charging the 54kWh battery from empty costs roughly £4 on an off-peak EV tariff at around 7.5p per kWh, and about £15 at a standard domestic rate of around 27p. The difference is not dramatic at that battery size, but an overnight EV tariff delivers the most economical charging across the year. Using public rapid chargers for routine top-ups costs considerably more at typical rates of 45p to 80p per kWh. Tariffs move frequently; always check current pricing.

Peugeot e-308 FAQs
Good
questions.

Contact usWhat charging cable does the Peugeot e-308 need?+−
The Peugeot e-308 has a Type 2 inlet, so it needs a Type 2 to Type 2 cable for UK home and public charging. It charges on up to three-phase AC at up to 11kW.
Can the Peugeot e-308 charge at 22kW?+−
Yes, the Peugeot e-308 has a three-phase onboard charger, so with a 22kW cable and a three-phase supply it can charge at up to 11kW.
What length charging cable should I get?+−
5m suits most home and public charge points. Choose 7.5m or 10m if the charge point is far from your car's charging port or you park on the far side of a bay.
What cable do I need for the Peugeot e-308?+−
A Type 2 to Type 2 cable, which connects to every UK home wallbox and standard public AC charge point. Both the hatchback and SW estate versions of the e-308 use the same Type 2 inlet. A 5m cable handles most home driveways; a 7m or 10m lead is worth considering if the wallbox is set back from where you park.
Does the Peugeot e-308 have an 11kW charger?+−
Yes, 11kW three-phase is standard on all UK e-308 variants. To reach that speed you need a three-phase supply: a three-phase home installation or a public AC point rated at 11kW or above. On a standard single-phase UK home wallbox the maximum is 7.4kW, no matter the cable or wallbox rating.
How long does a full charge take on the Peugeot e-308?+−
On a 7.4kW single-phase wallbox, the 54kWh battery takes around 7 to 7.5 hours from empty. On a three-phase 11kW source it is closer to 5 hours. A standard 3-pin socket takes roughly 28 to 30 hours and is only suitable as an occasional backup. Most owners charge daily rather than from empty, so real charge times are shorter.
Can the e-308 rapid charge on DC?+−
Yes. The e-308 accepts up to 100kW on CCS rapid chargers. At that rate the battery charges from 10% to 80% in roughly 25 to 30 minutes under good conditions. DC rapid charging uses the station's own tethered cable and is entirely separate from the Type 2 cable you carry for AC charging.
