Why this fits your e-5008+

The Peugeot e-5008 has a Type 2 inlet and a three-phase 11kW onboard charger. The 22kW cable carries its full 11kW on three-phase chargers. A 7.4kW cable would cap it. On a single-phase home wallbox both cables charge at the same 7.4kW.

How long does it take?

Charging
the Peugeot e-5008.

The Peugeot e-5008 is the larger seven-seat electric SUV in Peugeot's range, introduced in the UK from 2024 on the STLA Medium platform. It comes in a 73kWh standard battery and a 97kWh Long Range version, making it one of the more generously specified electric family SUVs at its price point. All AC charging is through a Type 2 inlet, and DC rapid charging via CCS reaches up to 160kW. The cable you carry is a Type 2 to Type 2 lead for home and public AC charging; DC rapid chargers supply their own tethered cable.

The e-5008's onboard AC charger accepts up to 11kW on three phases, shared with the smaller e-3008 but housed in a larger, seven-seat body. For families doing high daily mileages in a seven-seat car, topping up fully at home each night on an 11kW supply keeps the battery ready for the next day without waiting long.

Select your battery above. Both versions share the same 11kW AC charging rate; the Long Range simply takes longer to fill and travels further between charges. Rapid (DC) times are for a 10 to 80% charge, the way manufacturers quote them. Real-world charging varies with temperature, battery state and the charger itself.

7.4 kW or 22 kW?

Which cable does
the e-5008 need?

The e-5008's 11kW three-phase onboard charger works at full speed on a three-phase supply, but most UK homes are single-phase, capping home charging at 7.4kW. For those owners, a 7.4kW Type 2 to Type 2 cable is the right starting point: it handles home wallboxes and public AC points at the maximum speed a single-phase supply can deliver. A 5m cable suits most driveways.

If you have access to a three-phase supply at home or frequently charge at 22kW public AC stations, a 22kW cable lets the e-5008 pull its full 11kW. Given the larger 73kWh or 97kWh battery, the time saving of charging at 11kW versus 7.4kW is more meaningful than on a small PHEV. On single-phase only, the 22kW cable adds no speed benefit.

What does it cost to charge?

Filling the 73kWh battery from empty costs roughly £5.50 on an off-peak EV tariff at around 7.5p per kWh, and around £20 at a standard rate near 27p per kWh. The 97kWh Long Range costs roughly £7 to £7.50 at off-peak rates. For a seven-seat family car used daily, an overnight EV tariff makes running costs predictable and low. Check current tariff rates before estimating.

Good

Contact us
What charging cable does the Peugeot e-5008 need?+

The Peugeot e-5008 has a Type 2 inlet, so it needs a Type 2 to Type 2 cable for UK home and public charging. It charges on up to three-phase AC at up to 11kW.

Can the Peugeot e-5008 charge at 22kW?+

Yes, the Peugeot e-5008 has a three-phase onboard charger, so with a 22kW cable and a three-phase supply it can charge at up to 11kW.

What length charging cable should I get?+

5m suits most home and public charge points. Choose 7.5m or 10m if the charge point is far from your car's charging port or you park on the far side of a bay.

What cable does the Peugeot e-5008 need?+

A Type 2 to Type 2 cable. The e-5008 has a Type 2 inlet and an 11kW three-phase onboard charger. On a standard single-phase UK home, a 7.4kW cable gives the full available speed. A 22kW cable only adds benefit if you have three-phase supply access or regularly use 22kW public AC points.

How long does the Peugeot e-5008 take to charge at home?+

On a 7.4kW single-phase wallbox, the 73kWh battery takes around 10 to 11 hours from empty, and the 97kWh Long Range around 13 to 14 hours. Both are comfortable overnight charges for a family car. On a three-phase supply at 11kW, times drop to roughly seven and nine hours respectively.

Can the Peugeot e-5008 use 22kW public AC chargers?+

Its onboard charger is rated at 11kW, so it can draw its maximum 11kW from a 22kW AC point. You will need a 22kW-rated cable for that. The car does not charge faster than 11kW on AC regardless of the charger's rated output.

Is a 5m cable adequate for the Peugeot e-5008?+

For most home driveways, yes. The e-5008 is a large seven-seat SUV, so measure the distance from your wallbox to where the car sits when parked. If the gap is greater than you expect, or you park with the car in different orientations, a 7m cable gives useful extra reach.
