Porsche Cayenne E-Hybrid
Charging cable
Full AC charging speed for your car.
Why this fits your Cayenne E-Hybrid+−
The Porsche Cayenne E-Hybrid has a Type 2 inlet and a single-phase 7.4kW onboard charger. A 7.4kW cable already delivers its full AC speed. The 22kW option only helps if your next car charges faster.

How long does it take?
Charging
the Porsche Cayenne E-Hybrid.
The Porsche Cayenne E-Hybrid is a full-size luxury plug-in hybrid SUV that arrived in 2018. It pairs a petrol V6 with an electric motor, and the battery grew significantly in a 2023 update, from around 14kWh gross in earlier cars to roughly 25.9kWh gross in the revised model. All versions use a Type 2 inlet for AC charging and have no DC rapid charging capability.
At home or at a public AC point you need a Type 2 to Type 2 cable to connect. The onboard AC charger is rated at 7.4kW on a single phase, which is as fast as this car can charge whatever cable or charger you use. Rapid DC chargers are not supported on any version of the Cayenne E-Hybrid.
Battery capacity varied across model years. Earlier cars (pre-2023) have a smaller pack; 2023-on cars gain a significantly larger battery. Charging time shown above reflects the battery selected. Rapid (DC) times are for a 10 to 80% charge, the way manufacturers quote them. Real-world charging varies with temperature, battery state and the charger itself.
7.4 kW or 22 kW?
Which cable does
the Cayenne E-Hybrid need?
The Cayenne E-Hybrid charges at up to 7.4kW on a single phase, so a 7.4kW Type 2 to Type 2 cable is the right match for this car. Almost all UK homes run on a single-phase supply, meaning that is the ceiling for home charging regardless of cable rating. A 22kW cable will not charge the car any faster at home.
A 5m cable is enough for most driveways. If your wallbox sits further from your parking spot or the charging port and charger end up on opposite sides of the car, stepping up to a 7m lead gives useful extra reach. Given that this car charges at the maximum 7.4kW a single-phase supply allows, there is no benefit to spending extra on a three-phase-rated cable.
What does it cost to charge?
Filling the larger 2023-on battery (roughly 21.8kWh usable) from empty costs around £2 on a typical off-peak EV tariff of around 7.5p per kWh, or around £6 at a standard rate of around 27p per kWh. The earlier, smaller pack is cheaper still to fill. As a plug-in hybrid, maximising home charging keeps fuel costs low. Check current tariff rates, as they vary.

Good
questions.

Contact usWhat charging cable does the Porsche Cayenne E-Hybrid need?+−
The Porsche Cayenne E-Hybrid has a Type 2 inlet, so it needs a Type 2 to Type 2 cable for UK home and public charging. It charges on single-phase AC at up to 7.4kW.
What length charging cable should I get?+−
5m suits most home and public charge points. Choose 7.5m or 10m if the charge point is far from your car's charging port or you park on the far side of a bay.
What cable does the Porsche Cayenne E-Hybrid need?+−
A Type 2 to Type 2 cable. The Cayenne E-Hybrid uses a Type 2 inlet and charges on AC only. Its onboard charger is rated at 7.4kW single-phase, so a 7.4kW Type 2 to Type 2 cable delivers the full charging speed available. There is no DC rapid charging on this model.
Can the Porsche Cayenne E-Hybrid charge at 22kW?+−
No. The Cayenne E-Hybrid's onboard AC charger is limited to 7.4kW on a single phase, and it has no DC rapid charging. A 22kW cable makes no difference: the car will still only draw 7.4kW, and only from a charger that can supply it. A standard 7.4kW cable is the sensible choice.
How long does the Cayenne E-Hybrid take to charge at home?+−
On a 7.4kW home wallbox, the larger post-2023 battery (around 21.8kWh usable) takes roughly three hours from empty. Pre-2023 cars with the smaller pack charge proportionally quicker. A standard 3-pin socket at around 2.3kW is significantly slower and best kept as a backup.
What length charging cable do I need for the Cayenne E-Hybrid?+−
A 5m cable is adequate for most driveways and home garages. If your wallbox is mounted some distance from where you park, or there is a pillar or corner in the way, a 7m or 10m lead gives the extra length to connect comfortably without stretching the cable.
