Renault Scenic E-Tech
Charging cable
Charges about 195% faster on 22 kW public posts than a 7.4 kW cable.
Why this fits your Scenic E-Tech+−
The Renault Scenic E-Tech has a Type 2 inlet and a three-phase 22kW onboard charger. The 22kW cable carries its full 22kW on three-phase chargers. A 7.4kW cable would cap it. On a single-phase home wallbox both cables charge at the same 7.4kW.

How long does it take?
Charging
the Renault Scenic E-Tech.
The Renault Scenic E-Tech is Renault's fully electric family SUV, built on the CMF-EV platform and on sale in the UK from 2024. It revives the Scenic nameplate as a spacious five-seat EV, available with a 60kWh or an 87kWh battery and DC rapid charging up to 150kW via CCS. Both versions charge on AC through a Type 2 inlet, so the lead you bring for home or public AC charging is a Type 2 to Type 2 cable.
The Scenic E-Tech is one of the few mainstream EVs to offer genuine 22kW three-phase AC charging as an option, rather than the more common 11kW ceiling. The standard setup is 7.4kW or 11kW on three phases depending on configuration; the 22kW upgrade is available on select variants. What this means in practice depends on both your car's spec and your home supply, so it is worth checking before deciding which cable to buy.
Select your battery size above. The 60kWh Scenic E-Tech charges more quickly than the 87kWh on every method. Rapid (DC) times are for a 10 to 80% charge, the way manufacturers quote them. Real-world charging varies with temperature, battery state and the charger itself.
7.4 kW or 22 kW?
Which cable does
the Scenic E-Tech need?
Most Scenic E-Tech owners on a standard UK single-phase home supply will find that a 7.4kW Type 2 cable covers everything their driveway can deliver. Single-phase supplies cap AC charging at 7.4kW regardless of the cable or wallbox, and at that rate the 87kWh battery takes roughly twelve hours from empty, which suits an overnight window. For the 60kWh version the same rate takes around eight hours.
Where the Scenic E-Tech genuinely rewards a higher-rated cable is at three-phase public AC charge points. With the optional 22kW onboard charger fitted, the car can pull 22kW at a compatible three-phase point, which brings charge times down substantially on a motorway stop or a town centre session. A 22kW-rated cable is required for that. At home on a single-phase supply it still charges at 7.4kW. Confirm your car's onboard charger specification before choosing the cable, as the 22kW option is not standard on every build.
A 5m cable suits most home driveways. If the wallbox is positioned at some distance from where the car parks, or the charging inlet sits on the far side of the car from the socket, a 7m lead is a safe step up.
What does it cost to charge?
Filling the 87kWh battery from empty costs roughly £7 at an off-peak EV tariff of around 7.5p per kWh, or around £23 on a standard rate of around 27p per kWh. The 60kWh version costs roughly £5 or around £16 at those same rates. Given the larger battery option available, overnight charging on an off-peak tariff makes the most of the Scenic E-Tech's range without the cost of frequent public rapid charging. Check current tariff rates, as these change frequently.

Renault Scenic E-Tech FAQs
Good
questions.
Still not sure? Our team will confirm the right cable for your vehicle.
Contact usWhat length charging cable should I get?+−
5m suits most home and public charge points. Choose 7.5m or 10m if the charge point is far from your car's charging port or you park on the far side of a bay.
What charging cable does the Renault Scenic E-Tech need?+−
A Type 2 to Type 2 cable. For most UK owners on a single-phase home supply a 7.4kW cable gives the full speed available at home. If your Scenic E-Tech has the optional 22kW three-phase onboard charger, a 22kW-rated cable lets it pull the full rate at compatible three-phase public AC points.
Can the Renault Scenic E-Tech charge at 22kW?+−
Yes, if your car has the optional 22kW three-phase onboard charger and you are connected to a three-phase 22kW power source. This requires a 22kW-rated cable. The standard setup is 7.4kW or 11kW depending on configuration, limited to 7.4kW on a UK single-phase home supply.
How long does the Renault Scenic E-Tech take to charge at home?+−
On a 7.4kW home wallbox the 87kWh battery takes roughly twelve hours from empty; the 60kWh takes around eight hours. Both fit comfortably into an overnight charge. With the optional 22kW charger on a three-phase supply the times fall substantially, but three-phase home supplies are uncommon in the UK.
What length cable do I need for the Renault Scenic E-Tech?+−
A 5m cable is the standard starting point for most home setups. The Scenic E-Tech is a larger family SUV, so if the wallbox is at any distance from the car or the inlet ends up on the far side from the socket, a 7m lead gives comfortable reach without needing to manoeuvre the car.
