SEAT Leon eHybrid
Charging cable
Full AC charging speed for your car.
Why this fits your Leon eHybrid+−
The SEAT Leon eHybrid has a Type 2 inlet and a single-phase 3.6kW onboard charger. A 7.4kW cable already delivers its full AC speed. The 22kW option only helps if your next car charges faster.

How long does it take?
Charging
the SEAT Leon eHybrid.
The SEAT Leon eHybrid is the plug-in hybrid version of the current Leon range, available as both a hatchback and an estate (Sportstourer), on sale in the UK from 2020. It pairs a petrol engine with a 10.4kWh usable battery that can be charged from the mains, allowing a modest electric-only range for everyday local driving. Charging is via a Type 2 inlet, so the cable you use at a home wallbox or public AC point is a Type 2 to Type 2 lead. There is no DC rapid charging on this model.
The Leon eHybrid's onboard AC charger is rated at 3.6kW on a single phase. That is a relatively low charge rate, but with a 10.4kWh battery the time from empty to full is still only around three hours on a wallbox, or overnight on a standard three-pin socket.
Estimates based on battery size and charge power. Rapid (DC) times are for a 10 to 80% charge, the way manufacturers quote them. Real-world charging varies with temperature, battery state and the charger itself.
7.4 kW or 22 kW?
Which cable does
the Leon eHybrid need?
The Leon eHybrid's onboard charger is limited to 3.6kW, which is well below what even a standard home wallbox can supply. A 7.4kW Type 2 cable provides more capacity than the car can use, and the battery will be full in around three hours regardless. There is no benefit to choosing a higher-rated cable because the onboard charger is the limiting factor, not the cable or the supply.
The practical recommendation is straightforward: a 7.4kW Type 2 to Type 2 cable, in a 5m length for most driveways, is all the Leon eHybrid requires. No 11kW or 22kW cable will charge it any faster, and there is no DC rapid port to consider. A 7m cable is worth a thought if your wallbox is set back from your usual parking position.
What does it cost to charge?
Filling the 10.4kWh battery from empty at an off-peak EV tariff of around 7.5p per kWh costs less than £1. At a standard rate of around 27p per kWh the same charge comes to around £2.50 to £3. The modest battery size keeps per-charge costs very low, making daily plug-in use easy to justify on running cost grounds alone. Check current tariffs as rates change.

SEAT Leon eHybrid FAQs
Good
questions.
Still not sure? Our team will confirm the right cable for your vehicle.
Contact usCan the SEAT Leon eHybrid charge at 22kW?+−
No, the SEAT Leon eHybrid has a single-phase onboard charger limited to 3.6kW, so a 7.4kW cable already delivers its full AC speed. A 22kW cable would only benefit a future car.
What length charging cable should I get?+−
5m suits most home and public charge points. Choose 7.5m or 10m if the charge point is far from your car's charging port or you park on the far side of a bay.
What charging cable does the SEAT Leon eHybrid need?+−
A Type 2 to Type 2 cable rated at 7.4kW. The Leon eHybrid's onboard charger is limited to 3.6kW, so any 7.4kW cable delivers more capacity than the car can use. A higher-rated cable will not charge any faster. There is no DC rapid charging on this model.
Can the SEAT Leon eHybrid use rapid DC charging?+−
No. The Leon eHybrid has no CCS or CHAdeMO port. Charging is AC-only via the Type 2 inlet. The onboard charger is limited to 3.6kW, and no rapid charging is available regardless of the charge point used.
How long does the SEAT Leon eHybrid take to charge?+−
On a 7.4kW wallbox the 10.4kWh battery charges from empty in around three hours. A standard three-pin socket at around 2.3kW takes roughly four to five hours. The low charge rate and small battery mean even a standard socket can fill the Leon eHybrid overnight with ease.
What length charging cable do I need for the SEAT Leon eHybrid?+−
A 5m Type 2 cable covers most home driveways and public AC charge posts comfortably. If your wallbox is positioned further from where you park, or the charging inlet sits on the opposite side from the socket, a 7m lead avoids any stretching and is worth the small extra cost.
