Why this fits your Mii Electric+

The SEAT Mii Electric has a Type 2 inlet and a single-phase 7.2kW onboard charger. A 7.4kW cable already delivers its full AC speed. The 22kW option only helps if your next car charges faster.

How long does it take?

Charging
the SEAT Mii Electric.

The SEAT Mii Electric is a compact city car sold in the UK between 2019 and 2021. It shares its underpinnings and powertrain with the Volkswagen e-up! and Skoda Citigo-e iV, carrying a 32kWh battery and a Type 2 inlet for AC charging alongside a CCS port for rapid DC. As a used purchase, it makes a practical and affordable zero-emission runabout for urban driving.

When you charge at home or at a public AC point, the cable you need is a Type 2 to Type 2 lead. The Mii Electric's onboard charger is rated at 7.2kW on a single phase, and DC rapid charging up to around 40kW uses the charger's own tethered cable rather than one you supply.

7.4 kW or 22 kW?

Which cable does
the Mii Electric need?

The Mii Electric draws up to 7.2kW on AC, which sits just below the 7.4kW ceiling that most UK home wallboxes deliver on a single-phase supply. In practice the difference between 7.2kW and 7.4kW is negligible, meaning a standard 7.4kW Type 2 cable is exactly what you need and there is no benefit to a pricier 22kW option for this car.

A 22kW three-phase cable cannot charge the Mii Electric any faster, because the car's onboard charger is single-phase and capped well below that figure. Save money, buy the 7.4kW cable. A 5m length suits most home driveways, but if your wallbox is some distance from where you park, a 7m or 10m lead gives comfortable slack.

What does it cost to charge?

Filling the 32kWh battery from empty costs roughly £2 to £2.50 on an off-peak EV tariff of around 7.5p per kWh, and around £9 on a standard rate of around 27p per kWh. Because the battery is relatively small, even a standard overnight charge on a home wallbox will comfortably replenish a full day's city driving. Check current tariff rates, as energy prices change regularly.

SEAT Mii Electric FAQs

Good

Contact us
What length charging cable should I get?+

5m suits most home and public charge points. Choose 7.5m or 10m if the charge point is far from your car's charging port or you park on the far side of a bay.

What charging cable does the SEAT Mii Electric need?+

A Type 2 to Type 2 cable for home wallboxes and public AC charge points. The Mii Electric's onboard charger tops out at 7.2kW on a single phase, so a 7.4kW rated cable is the right choice. A 22kW cable offers no speed advantage and is unnecessary for this car.

Can the SEAT Mii Electric charge at 22kW?+

No. The Mii Electric's onboard charger is single-phase and rated at around 7.2kW. Even on a three-phase supply or 22kW public charger, the car will only accept its maximum 7.2kW. A 22kW cable will not increase charging speed.

How long does the SEAT Mii Electric take to charge at home?+

On a 7.4kW home wallbox, the 32kWh battery takes around 4.5 to 5 hours from empty to full, easily covered overnight. A slow 3-pin granny charger at around 2.3kW would take roughly 14 hours and is best kept as an emergency backup rather than everyday use.

What length Type 2 cable do I need for the SEAT Mii Electric?+

A 5m cable covers most driveway setups. If your wallbox is set further back from your parking space, or the charging inlet ends up on the far side of the car from the socket, a 7m or 10m cable gives you useful reach without excess trailing lead.
