Skoda Elroq
Charging cable
Charges about 50% faster on 22 kW public posts than a 7.4 kW cable.
Why this fits your Elroq+−
The Skoda Elroq has a Type 2 inlet and a three-phase 11kW onboard charger. The 22kW cable carries its full 11kW on three-phase chargers. A 7.4kW cable would cap it. On a single-phase home wallbox both cables charge at the same 7.4kW.
Which Skoda Elroq versions does it fit?+
This cable fits every Skoda Elroq, because they all share the same Type 2 charging inlet. That includes:
- Skoda Elroq 50
- Skoda Elroq 60
- Skoda Elroq 85
- Skoda Elroq SE L
- Skoda Elroq Edition
- Skoda Elroq SportLine
- Skoda Elroq vRS
Whichever Elroq trim you drive, it is the same cable, so you can order with confidence.

How long does it take?
Charging
the Skoda Elroq.
The Skoda Elroq launched in 2024 as Skoda's new compact electric SUV on VW's MEB platform, sitting below the Enyaq in the range. Three battery variants are sold in the UK: the Elroq 50 and 60 use smaller packs, while the Elroq 85 carries around 77kWh of usable capacity and can accept up to 175kW on DC rapid chargers. All versions share a Type 2 inlet for AC and a CCS port for DC, with an 11kW three-phase onboard AC charger.
For home wallboxes and public AC posts, the lead you bring is a Type 2 to Type 2 cable. DC rapid charging, where the Elroq 85 can reach a competitive 175kW, uses the station's own tethered cable. The same Type 2 cable works at any standard AC charger across the UK, from a home wallbox to a shopping centre post.
Estimates based on battery size and charge power. Rapid (DC) times are for a 10 to 80% charge, the way manufacturers quote them. Real-world charging varies with temperature, battery state and the charger itself.
7.4 kW or 22 kW?
Which cable does
the Elroq need?
The Elroq's 11kW three-phase onboard charger is faster than a standard UK home supply can feed. Most UK residential properties are single-phase, meaning AC charging is capped at 7.4kW at home whatever cable is used. For overnight top-ups, a 7.4kW Type 2 to Type 2 cable is the right choice: it delivers the maximum your home wallbox can provide and costs less than a three-phase version. The Elroq's real strength is its 175kW DC speed, which is relevant on longer journeys rather than at home.
A 22kW three-phase cable earns its place if you have a three-phase supply at home, which a small number of UK homes do, or if you frequently stop at 22kW public AC chargers. In those cases the Elroq can use its full 11kW. On a single-phase home connection the Elroq charges at 7.4kW through either cable. A 5m lead covers most standard home parking setups; if your charging point is mounted some distance from where the car parks, a 7m lead avoids over-stretching the cable.
What does it cost to charge?
Filling the Elroq 85's 77kWh battery from empty costs roughly £5 to £6 on an off-peak EV tariff at around 7.5p per kWh, and around £21 at a standard domestic rate of roughly 27p per kWh. Smaller 50 and 60 packs cost proportionally less. A time-of-use home tariff with overnight off-peak pricing makes the biggest difference to monthly running costs. Public rapid chargers typically run at 45p to 80p per kWh, which is considerably more expensive per mile. Check current tariffs, as rates change.

Skoda Elroq FAQs
Good
questions.
Still not sure? Our team will confirm the right cable for your vehicle.
Contact usWhat charging cable does the Skoda Elroq need?+−
The Skoda Elroq has a Type 2 inlet, so it needs a Type 2 to Type 2 cable for UK home and public charging. It charges on up to three-phase AC at up to 11kW.
Can the Skoda Elroq charge at 22kW?+−
Yes, the Skoda Elroq has a three-phase onboard charger, so with a 22kW cable and a three-phase supply it can charge at up to 11kW.
What length charging cable should I get?+−
5m suits most home and public charge points. Choose 7.5m or 10m if the charge point is far from your car's charging port or you park on the far side of a bay.
What cable does the Skoda Elroq need?+−
A Type 2 to Type 2 cable for home and public AC charging. A 5m lead covers most home setups. On a single-phase home supply, which is standard across the UK, a 7.4kW cable gives the full available speed. A 22kW three-phase cable is worth choosing only if you have a three-phase home supply or regularly charge at 22kW public AC points.
How fast does the Skoda Elroq charge on AC?+−
The Elroq's onboard AC charger supports 11kW on three phases. On a standard single-phase UK home wallbox the charge rate is 7.4kW regardless of cable. At a three-phase 22kW public AC point the Elroq draws its full 11kW. A 22kW cable alone does not change the car's onboard charger, and on a single-phase supply it makes no difference.
How long does the Skoda Elroq 85 take to charge at home?+−
On a 7.4kW single-phase home wallbox the 77kWh Elroq 85 takes around ten to eleven hours from empty to full, which fits an overnight charge. On a three-phase 11kW supply that drops to roughly seven hours. The Elroq's DC charging speed of up to 175kW means public rapid stops are short: from 10% to 80% takes under thirty minutes at a compatible charger.
What is the difference between the Skoda Elroq and the Skoda Enyaq?+−
Both sit on VW's MEB platform and share the same Type 2 AC inlet and CCS DC port, with 11kW three-phase AC charging. The Elroq is the smaller, newer model with a shorter wheelbase and a starting price below the Enyaq. The Elroq 85 and Enyaq 85 share similar battery sizes and DC speeds, but the Elroq is aimed at buyers wanting a more compact package.
