Skoda Octavia iV
Charging cable
Full AC charging speed for your car.
Why this fits your Octavia iV+−
The Skoda Octavia iV has a Type 2 inlet and a single-phase 3.6kW onboard charger. A 7.4kW cable already delivers its full AC speed. The 22kW option only helps if your next car charges faster.

How long does it take?
Charging
the Skoda Octavia iV.
The Skoda Octavia iV is the plug-in hybrid variant of Skoda's popular fourth-generation Octavia, offered as both a hatchback and an estate from 2020. It pairs a petrol engine with a 10.4kWh usable electric battery, giving a useful electric-only range for local trips and commutes before the combustion engine steps in. The charging inlet is Type 2, and AC charging is done through the cable you supply.
To charge at home or at a public AC point, you need a Type 2 to Type 2 lead. The Octavia iV's onboard charger is rated at 3.6kW on a single phase, and the car has no DC rapid charging capability, so the cable you buy covers all of its charging needs.
Estimates based on battery size and charge power. Rapid (DC) times are for a 10 to 80% charge, the way manufacturers quote them. Real-world charging varies with temperature, battery state and the charger itself.
7.4 kW or 22 kW?
Which cable does
the Octavia iV need?
The Octavia iV charges at a modest 3.6kW, well below the 7.4kW capacity of a typical home wallbox and far below anything a 22kW cable could offer. That means a standard 7.4kW Type 2 cable is more than adequate; the car will draw only 3.6kW regardless of the cable rating you choose. There is no case at all for buying a heavier or more expensive cable for this vehicle.
Because the Octavia iV has no DC rapid charging, the Type 2 cable you plug in at home covers your entire charging setup. A 5m cable works well for most driveways. If your wallbox is further from your parking spot, a 7m lead avoids the cable pulling taut and makes plugging in less awkward day to day.
What does it cost to charge?
Filling the 10.4kWh usable battery from empty costs under £1 on an off-peak tariff at around 7.5p per kWh, or roughly £3 at a standard rate of around 27p per kWh. The small battery means top-ups are inexpensive, and plugging in every day costs very little over a month. Check current energy rates, which change regularly.

Skoda Octavia iV FAQs
Good
questions.
Still not sure? Our team will confirm the right cable for your vehicle.
Contact usCan the Skoda Octavia iV charge at 22kW?+−
No, the Skoda Octavia iV has a single-phase onboard charger limited to 3.6kW, so a 7.4kW cable already delivers its full AC speed. A 22kW cable would only benefit a future car.
What length charging cable should I get?+−
5m suits most home and public charge points. Choose 7.5m or 10m if the charge point is far from your car's charging port or you park on the far side of a bay.
What charging cable does the Skoda Octavia iV need?+−
A Type 2 to Type 2 cable. The Octavia iV's onboard charger is limited to 3.6kW on a single phase, so any Type 2 cable rated at 7.4kW or above will serve it perfectly well. There is no benefit to a 22kW or three-phase cable for this car.
Does the Skoda Octavia iV support DC rapid charging?+−
No. The Octavia iV is AC-only and has no CCS or CHAdeMO port. All charging is done through the Type 2 inlet at up to 3.6kW. You cannot use a public rapid charger with this car.
How long does the Skoda Octavia iV battery take to charge at home?+−
At the car's 3.6kW maximum, the 10.4kWh usable battery fills from empty in roughly 3 hours on a home wallbox. On a 3-pin socket at around 2.3kW, it takes around 4.5 to 5 hours, which is still manageable overnight or during a working day.
Can the Skoda Octavia iV charge faster with a 22kW cable?+−
No. The Octavia iV's onboard charger is hard-limited to 3.6kW, so no cable or charger can increase that speed. A 22kW cable simply charges at the same 3.6kW as a standard 7.4kW lead. Save the extra cost and buy the simpler option.
