Why this fits your Across+

The Suzuki Across has a Type 2 inlet and a single-phase 6.6kW onboard charger. A 7.4kW cable already delivers its full AC speed. The 22kW option only helps if your next car charges faster.

Which Suzuki Across versions does it fit?+

This cable fits every Suzuki Across, because they all share the same Type 2 charging inlet. That includes:

  • Suzuki Across E Four
  • Suzuki Across Sz5 E Four

Whichever Across trim you drive, it is the same cable, so you can order with confidence.

How long does it take?

Charging
the Suzuki Across.

The Suzuki Across is a mid-size plug-in hybrid SUV on sale in the UK from 2020. It is mechanically identical to the Toyota RAV4 PHEV and shares its powertrain: a 2.5-litre petrol engine combined with two electric motors and an 18.1kWh battery. Plugging in lets you cover shorter runs on battery-only power before the petrol engine takes over. The charging inlet is Type 2, so the cable you bring is a Type 2 to Type 2 lead.

The Across has no DC rapid charging capability in UK and European specification, so all charging is done via AC through the Type 2 inlet. Its onboard charger is rated at 6.6kW single-phase, which is comfortably within what a standard 7.4kW home wallbox can deliver.

7.4 kW or 22 kW?

Which cable does
the Across need?

The Across charges at up to 6.6kW on AC, which sits below the 7.4kW maximum that a standard UK home wallbox delivers. That means a 7.4kW Type 2 to Type 2 cable already covers everything the car can draw at home. There is no reason to consider a 22kW rated cable: the Across is single-phase only and cannot use three-phase power for faster AC charging.

For public charging, the same 7.4kW cable covers all Type 2 AC posts. At 6.6kW a full charge from empty takes around three hours, which suits a daytime top-up or a short overnight session. A 5m cable is practical for most driveways and public bays.

What does it cost to charge?

Charging the 18.1kWh battery from empty costs around £1.35 on an off-peak EV tariff of roughly 7.5p per kWh, or around £4.90 on a standard rate of around 27p. Plugging in regularly at home is the most cost-effective way to maximise the Across's electric range. Check current tariffs, as these figures will change over time.

Contact us
What charging cable does the Suzuki Across need?+

The Suzuki Across has a Type 2 inlet, so it needs a Type 2 to Type 2 cable for UK home and public charging. It charges on single-phase AC at up to 6.6kW.

Can the Suzuki Across charge at 22kW?+

No, the Suzuki Across has a single-phase onboard charger limited to 6.6kW, so a 7.4kW cable already delivers its full AC speed. A 22kW cable would only benefit a future car.

What length charging cable should I get?+

5m suits most home and public charge points. Choose 7.5m or 10m if the charge point is far from your car's charging port or you park on the far side of a bay.

What cable does the Suzuki Across need for home charging?+

A Type 2 to Type 2 cable. The Across has a 6.6kW single-phase onboard charger and a Type 2 inlet. A 7.4kW cable is the correct choice: it covers the full charging speed available and works on home wallboxes and public Type 2 AC points. A 22kW cable offers no benefit as the car is single-phase only.

Can the Suzuki Across use rapid DC charging?+

No. The Suzuki Across PHEV has no DC rapid charging port in UK specification. Charging is via AC only, through the Type 2 inlet, at up to 6.6kW. Plan charging around home overnight sessions or standard public AC points for longer trips.

How long does the Suzuki Across take to charge at home?+

On a 7.4kW home wallbox the 18.1kWh battery charges from empty in around three hours at the car's 6.6kW rate. On a standard 3-pin socket at around 2.3kW it takes closer to nine hours. Most owners charge overnight and start each day with a full electric range.

Does the Suzuki Across charge at 22kW?+

No. The Across uses a single-phase 6.6kW onboard charger and cannot accept three-phase power. A 22kW cable will not charge it any faster than a 7.4kW cable. Stick to a 7.4kW Type 2 lead for home and public AC charging.
