Toyota C-HR PHEV
Charging cable
Full AC charging speed for your car.
Why this fits your C-HR PHEV+−
The Toyota C-HR PHEV has a Type 2 inlet and a single-phase 6.6kW onboard charger. A 7.4kW cable already delivers its full AC speed. The 22kW option only helps if your next car charges faster.

How long does it take?
Charging
the Toyota C-HR PHEV.
The Toyota C-HR PHEV is the plug-in hybrid version of Toyota's second-generation C-HR crossover, on sale in the UK from 2024. It combines a 2.0-litre petrol engine with an electric motor and a 13.6kWh battery, allowing electric-only driving for shorter journeys. The charging inlet is Type 2, so the cable you use at home or at a public AC post is a Type 2 to Type 2 lead.
The C-HR PHEV has no DC rapid charging port, so all charging is done via AC through the Type 2 inlet. The onboard AC charger is rated at 6.6kW on a single phase. Knowing this is the ceiling makes cable selection straightforward: you do not need anything rated higher than 7.4kW.
Estimates based on battery size and charge power. Rapid (DC) times are for a 10 to 80% charge, the way manufacturers quote them. Real-world charging varies with temperature, battery state and the charger itself.
7.4 kW or 22 kW?
Which cable does
the C-HR PHEV need?
The C-HR PHEV charges at up to 6.6kW via its single-phase onboard charger. A 7.4kW Type 2 to Type 2 cable covers everything the car can draw and is compatible with all home wallboxes and Type 2 public AC chargers. There is no case for a 22kW cable with this vehicle: the C-HR PHEV uses single-phase power only and cannot benefit from three-phase charging.
At 6.6kW the 13.6kWh battery takes just over two hours from empty, which fits easily into a daytime top-up or a short overnight session. A 5m cable is the most practical length for most home and public charging situations. If your wallbox is set back from where you park, a 7m lead avoids any awkward reach.
What does it cost to charge?
Charging the 13.6kWh battery from empty costs around £1 at an off-peak EV tariff of around 7.5p per kWh, or around £3.70 at a standard rate of around 27p. Regular home charging from the mains keeps the C-HR PHEV running on electric power for daily commutes and errands. Check current tariffs for accurate figures.

Toyota C-HR PHEV FAQs
Good
questions.
Still not sure? Our team will confirm the right cable for your vehicle.
Contact usWhat charging cable does the Toyota C-HR PHEV need?+−
The Toyota C-HR PHEV has a Type 2 inlet, so it needs a Type 2 to Type 2 cable for UK home and public charging. It charges on single-phase AC at up to 6.6kW.
Can the Toyota C-HR PHEV charge at 22kW?+−
No, the Toyota C-HR PHEV has a single-phase onboard charger limited to 6.6kW, so a 7.4kW cable already delivers its full AC speed. A 22kW cable would only benefit a future car.
What length charging cable should I get?+−
5m suits most home and public charge points. Choose 7.5m or 10m if the charge point is far from your car's charging port or you park on the far side of a bay.
What cable does the Toyota C-HR PHEV need?+−
A Type 2 to Type 2 cable. The C-HR PHEV has a 6.6kW single-phase onboard charger and a Type 2 inlet. A 7.4kW cable is the correct choice for home and public AC charging. There is no benefit to a 22kW cable as the car uses single-phase AC only.
Can the Toyota C-HR PHEV use rapid DC charging?+−
No. The C-HR PHEV has no DC rapid charging capability in UK specification. All charging is done via the Type 2 AC inlet at up to 6.6kW. For longer trips, the petrol engine takes over once the battery is depleted.
How long does the Toyota C-HR PHEV take to charge at home?+−
On a 7.4kW wallbox with the car's 6.6kW onboard charger, the 13.6kWh battery charges from empty in just over two hours. On a standard 3-pin socket at around 2.3kW it takes around six hours. Either way, a full charge fits comfortably within a typical home or workplace stop.
Does the Toyota C-HR PHEV charge at 22kW?+−
No. The C-HR PHEV uses a single-phase 6.6kW onboard charger and cannot use three-phase power. A 22kW cable provides no speed benefit over a 7.4kW cable on this vehicle. Stick with a 7.4kW Type 2 lead.
